  • Publication number: 20070065796
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical module for recognizing the pages of an electronic book. The optical module of the invention comprises: at least one light source, a plurality of reflective layers, at least one light sensor and a page recognizing device. The light source is used for generating emitting light and is mounted on a cover of the electronic book. The reflective layers are used for reflecting the emitting light, and each reflective layer is mounted on one of pages of the electronic book. The light sensor is used for receiving the reflective light from the reflective layers and outputting a corresponding signal. The page recognizing device is used for recognizing a current page of the electronic book according to the corresponding signal. According to the invention, the different reflective area on the different reflective layer is used to reflect the different reflective light, so the electronic book can recognize the page which the user currently opens.

  • Publication number: 20070063042
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical reading system. The optical reading system comprises: an object, a sensor assembly and a processing device. The object has at least one predetermined pattern on a surface of the object. The predetermined pattern is printed in a predetermined ink for receiving light beams from a surrounding light source and for generating corresponding infrared ray. The sensor assembly is used for receiving the corresponding infrared ray from the ink of the predetermined pattern and for capturing the information of the predetermined pattern. According to the invention, the optical reading system of the invention only utilizes the outside light source, and does not need the internal light source as described in the prior art. Therefore, the optical reading system of the invention can save power and reduce the required elements.

  • Publication number: 20070057206
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical output system with auto optical power control for an optical mouse. The optical output system comprises: a light emitting device, a driver and an auto power controller. The light emitting device is used for generating emitting light. The driver is used for driving the light emitting device. The auto power controller is used for outputting a control signal to the driver according to at least one input signals so as to control the power of the light emitting device at a predetermined range. According to the invention, the optical output system can output the stable power of the emitting light at a predetermined value within the predetermined range under various conduction and circumference by a feedback control. Furthermore, the optical mouse using the optical output system can work on various reflective surface.

  • Publication number: 20070019696
Abstract: The invention relates to a vertical cavity surface emitting laser and method for fabricating the same. The vertical cavity surface emitting laser of the invention comprises: a substrate, a first reflector, an active layer, a second reflector, a first electrode layer and a second electrode layer. The second reflector has a first confinement layer with a first aperture and a second confinement layer with a second aperture. The second aperture is smaller than the first aperture. According to the invention, because the second confinement layer is formed by implanting oxygen ion into the second reflector and heating to let the oxygen ion and Al content in the second reflector react to form an oxide layer, the second confinement layer can be used as an optical and electronic confinement layer. Therefore, the width and depth of the second confinement layer can be achieved precisely and easily.
