  • Patent number: 5431625
Abstract: An iontophoresis controller is configured for connection to an iontophoresis electrode pair. The controller controls infusion of a selected dose of ionic drugs into a patient through the electrode pair during a treatment period. The controller includes an electrode driver channel having an electrode output configured for electrical connection to the electrode pair. The electrode driver channel delivers a substantially constant electrode output current at a selected treatment level through the electrode output during the treatment period. The electrode output current rises exponentially from approximately zero to the selected treatment level, remains at the selected treatment level during the treatment period, and then falls exponentially to approximately zero. A microprocessor controls operation of the electrode driver channel to generate the electrode output current during the treatment period.

  • Patent number: 5283441
Abstract: An optically isolated current mirror provides an isolated output signal as a function of an input signal. The mirror includes first and second optical isolators and an amplifier. The amplifier is connected to the first and second optical isolators in a voltage follower configuration which supplies the output signal as a function of an isolated control signal and an isolated feedback signal. The first optical isolator is connected between a source of the input signal and the amplifier. The first optical isolator includes a photosensitive np junction which generates the isolated control signal as a function of the input signal. The second optical isolator is connected to the amplifier in a feedback loop. The second optical isolator includes a photosensitive np junction which generates the isolated feedback signal as a function of the output signal.

  • Patent number: 5233987
Abstract: A medical patient's compliance with a prescribed regimen of treatment is monitored through elapsed time of equipment operation. A treatment device used by the patient applies a stimulation signal to the patient through an electrode and counts a first clock signal which produces a first count indicative of the length of time which the stimulation signal is applied. When the patient revisits the doctor, a compliance monitor readout device is connected to the treatment device to facilitate the compliance monitoring. The treatment device then counts, in response to second clock signal generated by the compliance monitor, from the first count to a second predetermined count. The compliance monitor readout device also counts the second clock signal and produces a third count. The compliance monitor readout device then displays an output as a function of the third count.

  • Patent number: 4065703
Abstract: A starting control system for synchronous motors having circuits for detecting motor speed, the zero crossings of the current induced in the field windings, and the motor load angle. A circuit responsive to the detected motor speed, zero crossings and load angle triggers the DC excitation of the field at the zero crossings upon reaching a predetermined rotor speed and terminates the DC excitation at predetermined load angles. The pulsed DC excitation provides a torque that pulls the rotor into synchronism within several rotor slip cycles. In one embodiment the pulsed DC excitation is applied on both positive and negative half-cycles of the induced field current waveform.
