  • Publication number: 20230233813
Abstract: An intravenous (IV) catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter and a catheter extending from the distal end of the catheter adapter. The intravenous (IV) catheter assembly may include an introducer needle. The elongated shaft may include a flashback notch, and the flashback notch may include a distal end and a proximal end. The flashback notch may include a smooth tapered edge extending from the distal end in a direction that increases a depth of the flashback notch. The smooth tapered edge may extend along at least half of an entire length of the flashback notch between the distal end and the proximal end.

  • Publication number: 20230166094
Abstract: A PRN adapter can be formed of a casing and an elastomeric member. The elastomeric member can form a septum and a male luer taper. By forming the PRN adapter of only two components, the manufacturing process can be simplified. The casing may form a hollow interior having a proximal opening and a distal opening. The septum of the elastomeric member may be positioned at the proximal opening of the hollow interior, and the male luer taper may extend to the distal opening of the hollow interior.

  • Publication number: 20220379103
Abstract: A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, which may include a distal end, a proximal end, a lumen extending through the distal end of the catheter adapter and the proximal end of the catheter adapter, and a side port disposed between the distal end of the catheter adapter and the proximal end of the catheter adapter. The catheter assembly may include a catheter extending distally from the distal end of the catheter adapter. The catheter assembly may include a valve disposed within the lumen. The catheter assembly may include a retainer element configured to secure the annular valve within the lumen. The retainer element may be disposed within the lumen proximal to a proximal end of the annular valve.

  • Publication number: 20210299409
Abstract: An intravenous (IV) device assembly may include a catheter adapter and a needle guard residing within a bore of the catheter adapter. The needle guard may include a needle formed through a guard bore. The guard bore may include a first internal diameter along a first bore portion and a second internal diameter, smaller than the first bore portion, along a second bore portion. A clip may be coupled to the exterior surface of the needle guard. The clip may include a first arm, which may include a first end guard, and a second arm, which may include a second end guard. The clip may be slidable distally along the exterior surface of the needle guard to move from an open configuration to a closed configuration, thereby blocking distal motion of the needle within the needle guard.
