Abstract: A patient transportation apparatus is disclosed comprising a stretcher and a collapsible pole for use in supporting IV sets and the like. The pole portion of the apparatus is adjustable in height with respect to the plane of the stretcher while being capable of being collapsed to a position below or equiplanar with the horizontal surface of the stretcher. The pole is located so that in all positions it does not extend beyond the perimeter of the horizontal surface. In another embodiment a lower support means is also provided for supporting gravity dependent drainage bags and the like.
