  • Publication number: 20230382632
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of beverage capsules. In particular, the present invention relates to a biodegradable top membrane of a beverage capsules. The biodegradable top membrane of a beverage capsule is pierceable by injection means of a beverage preparation machine which are adapted to inject an extraction liquid under pressure inside a closed chamber containing a mass of soluble and/or extractable food material. Remarkably, the top membrane possesses the necessary physical properties to be useful for beverage capsules while being biodegradable. The biodegradable top membrane for a beverage capsule comprises at least one polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA).

  • Publication number: 20230365312
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of food packaging and packaged foods. In particular, the present invention relates to cellulose-based food packaging. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a food packaging comprising a thermoformed cellulose-based container element, a biodegradable lining inside the container element and a recyclable lid element, wherein the lid element comprises a multi-layer metallized paper-based packaging material comprising a paper layer, a pre metallization coating layer, a metallized layer, and at least one post metallization coating layer, wherein the post metallization coating layer comprises a post-metallization tie layer coating comprising an ethylene acrylic acid copolymer dispersion, or another polyolefin dispersion functionalized with methacrylic and/or carboxyl acid groups and wherein the container element has a shape adapted to the shape of the food to be packaged in the food packaging.

  • Publication number: 20160297557
Abstract: Containers having improved vacuum-resistance and aesthetic features are provided. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a body (10) including at least one indented rib (22) and at least one indented panel (24). The at least one indented rib and the at least one indented panel are continuous around a circumference of the body in a substantially horizontal plane to maintain an even vertical compression of the body. At the same time, the panels provide a substantially flat surface for a sleeve for the container. The invention is particularly adapted for lightweight containers.

  • Patent number: 9434499
Abstract: Containers having improved vacuum-resistance and aesthetic features are provided. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a container (10) having a substantially rectangular-shaped body including at least one cut-away portion (32) on a first side of the body. The cut-away portion includes a panel (34) that is intersected by a horizontal rib (36) that extends along an outer perimeter of the container in a substantially horizontal plane. The structural features of the present containers advantageously provide for improved vacuum-resistance and consumer gripping when compared to similar containers currently on the market.

  • Publication number: 20160135477
Abstract: A ready-to-drink tea beverage contains tea extract, aerated water and benzoate, such as a benzoic acid salt. The beverage and/or the aerated water can contain at least 5.0 ppm dioxygen (O2) and preferably at least about 5.0 ppm O2. The aerated water can reduce or prevent benzene formation and can reduce the benzene content of the beverage. The beverage can lack dimethyl dicarbonate and/or ascorbic acid. The water can be aerated before and/or after the beverage is dispensed in a can or another suitable container.

  • Publication number: 20150129536
Abstract: Containers having improved vacuum-resistance and aesthetic features are provided. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a container having a body with at least first (40) and second (44) interrupted horizontal ribs. The first interrupted, horizontal rib is located in a horizontal plane that is different from the horizontal plane occupied by the second, interrupted, horizontal rib, and the first and second interrupted, horizontal ribs are offset from each other. The ribs, or indentations, provided on the containers have an increased height when compared to similar, known containers. The structural features of the present containers advantageously provide for improved vacuum-resistance when compared to similar containers currently on the market.
