Patent number: 6058639Abstract: The marking tag for banded merchandise has a resilient flat sheet with printed matter on at least one surface and an outer perimeter defining the outer limits of the body. Entirely within the outer perimeter is a pair of openings in spaced relationship and a slit connecting the pair of openings and forming a resilient bluntly pointed tongue in the body. The tongue has opposing straight side portions in an angular relationship greater than 40 degrees and less than 80 degrees and the opposing sides converge toward each other and are conjoined at the bluntly pointed tip. The bluntly pointed tongue is easily temporarily deflected from the plane of the body by finger pressure to readily insert the tip underneath a band about banded merchandise and slide the tongue fully under the band to seat the band in the pair of openings. The tag is thus placed in a substantially flush condition against the banded merchandise.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1996Date of Patent: May 9, 2000Assignee: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventors: Lloyd Tinklenberg, John B. Patent number: 5617656Abstract: The slotted orifice locking tag for fastening to a band material about merchandise is made of sheet material having an information part and a header part united together. The information part is for printed matter, which may include a scannable product identification marking. The header part has an open mouth in its outer perimeter edge and a slotted holding orifice inwardly spaced from the open mouth. A slit entry channel extends from the open mouth along a line terminating as a slit entrance into the slotted orifice. An elongated hooking finger is on one side of the entry channel and a camming surface on the other. The elongated hooking finger is easily latched over a section of a band material about merchandise to cause movement of the band material along the camming surface into the slot of the slotted holding orifice with one sweeping hand movement. A band material in the slot is resistant to escape therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1996Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventors: Robert B. Ludlow, Brian D. Patent number: 5328436Abstract: The deadfold reclosure sticker for hand pressure application to a bag has a flexible backing liner with a low adhesion surface. On the liner is a flexible deadfold reclosure sticker having a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer forming a base surface releasably adhered to the low adhesion surface of the liner. The sticker comprises a laminate of pliable layers and at least two deadfold wires having a thickness at least twice as great as the laminate. The wires are in spaced parallel alignment and are embedded along their length in the laminate with the ends of said wires exposed to view. The flexible backing liner has a structural feature for easy removal of it for hand application of it onto a flexible bag to form a deadfold reclosable bag easily reclosed by simple folding steps.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1992Date of Patent: July 12, 1994Assignee: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventors: Brian D. Larsen, Lloyd Tinklenberg

Patent number: 5302222Abstract: The new dispensing roll of deadfold stickers comprises a length of flexible carrier tape having a low adhesion surface and a multiplicity of flexible deadfold stickers releasably adhered to the low adhesion surface for easy removal therefrom. Each deadfold sticker comprises a laminate of pliable layers and at least two deadfold wires in spaced parallel alignment embedded in the laminate in a direction transverse to the length of the carrier tape. The carrier tape with releasably adhered deadfold stickers is wound upon itself in the dispensing roll. The dispensing roll is used in automatic machinery to form mouth-foldable deadfold reclosable bags; and the preferred reclosures are those having three creases of fold line formed by two folding steps.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1993Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Assignee: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventors: Brian D. Larsen, Lloyd Tinklenberg

Patent number: 4411644Abstract: A payout coil of tape for forming substantially instantly openable and reclosable package closures over the flattened mouths of packages in mechanized packaging operations. The tape is a unified structure having a layer of solid non-tacky thermoplastic polymeric material. Optionally, the only layer of a tape may be a polymeric layer; and the polymeric layer may exhibit adhesive properties. Tapes with a backing are preferred, as are tapes which include a layer of adhesive activatable to tackiness at elevated temperatures and remaining tacky at temperatures lower than those at which the polymeric layer exhibits tackiness. The adhesive layer may be separately applied as a hot melt at the time of adhesively fixing the tape to a package. A tearstrip structure is integrally conjoined with and preferably embedded in the polymeric layer, and at least one deformable deadfold strip is also embedded in the polymeric layer.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1981Date of Patent: October 25, 1983Assignee: Bedford Industries, Inc.Inventor: Lloyd Tinklenberg
