  • Patent number: 4395344
Abstract: A drain opening composition having superior ability to thoroughly and uniformly mix with the contents of a drain whereby any drainage constriction is attacked by the components of the composition to ensure free flow within the drain. The composition contains strong caustic in combination with an oxygen gas producing peroxy compound, particulate aluminum, potassium salts, a catalyst to promote the gas-forming reaction and a surfactant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 29, 1976
Date of Patent: July 26, 1983
    Assignee: The Clorox Company
    Inventor: Lodric L. Maddox
  • Patent number: 4260508
Abstract: A powdered sodium percarbonate composition is provided which exhibits significantly improved percarbonate stability during storage. The sodium percarbonate is stabilized by a phosphate containing compound such as sodium tripolyphosphate or sodium orthophosphate. The powdered sodium percarbonate composition is useful as a powder bleach and preferably comprises a separation resistant bleach composition in the form of a plurality of particles, substantially each particle including sodium carbonate, sufficient sodium percarbonate to provide from about 1 to about 6 weight percent available oxygen, and sufficient of the phosphate containing stabilizer to retard decomposition of the percarbonate.

  • Patent number: 4171280
Abstract: The invention relates to a powder bleach composition comprising a plurality of particles wherein substantially each of the particles comprises soda ash and sufficient sodium percarbonate to provide about 1 to 6 weight percent available oxygen content. The bleach composition is made by contacting particulate soda ash, either anhydrous sodium carbonate or sodium carbonate monohydrate, with sufficient of a spray of an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide, the contacting being at a temperature from about 35.degree. C. to about 70.degree. C. to provide the aforedescribed bleach composition. The powder bleach composition is recovered from the contacting step once sufficient reaction has occurred to provide sufficient sodium percarbonate so that the bleach composition has from about 1 to about 6 weight percent available oxygen and a remainder which comprises soda ash and minor additives.

  • Patent number: 4151104
Abstract: An aqueous bleaching composition having a pH from about 11 to 14, comprising an alkali metal hypochlorite, an alkali metal orthophosphate buffer, and an alkali metal pyrophosphate builder. The buffer increases the stability of the hypochlorite formulation to be comparable to a non-built composition of equal hypochlorite content despite the solution's increased ionic strength. The builder significantly aids in soil removal during laundering operations.
