  • Patent number: 11917350
Abstract: A loudspeaker having a compressible lead wire is described. The lead wire carries an electrical audio input signal to a voice coil. The electrical audio input signal drives the voice coil to oscillate in an axial direction. The compressible lead wire includes an elastic portion that stretches and compresses in the axial direction to allow the voice coil to oscillate freely. The elastic portion includes several compressible elements that are located within a cavity of the loudspeaker. The compressible elements extend through the cavity in the axial direction. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20240064464
Abstract: Implementations of the subject technology provide an acoustic module with a dampening component integrated within the acoustic module to reduce deflection of a wire for a voice coil. The dampening component can take the form of an adhesive or a semisolid. During operation of the audio module, the wire vibrates and deflects in an oscillating manner. However, the dampening component can reduce the magnitude of deflection, while allowing the audio module to function in a desired manner, i.e., generate acoustical energy. By reducing the magnitude of deflection, the dampening component reduces the likelihood of mechanical fatigue of the wire, thus reducing the likelihood of damage to the wire.

  • Patent number: 11451902
Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices having speakers with vented resonators. A vented resonator may have a resonator chamber and a channel that fluidly couples a front volume of the speaker with the resonator chamber. A vent such as a barometric vent may be disposed in a wall of the resonator chamber that separates the resonator chamber from the back volume of the speaker. The barometric vent may thus allow airflow from the front volume to the back volume via the resonator chamber, and prevent fluid flow from the front volume to the back volume via the resonator chamber.

  • Patent number: 10433048
Abstract: A micro speaker assembly including a speaker enclosure having an enclosure wall separating a surrounding environment from an encased space, wherein the enclosure wall defines, in part, an acoustic channel that acoustically couples the encased space to the surrounding environment, and the enclosure wall comprises a chemically etched insert molded metal portion that is mechanically interlocked and hermetically sealed to a plastic portion. The micro speaker further including a speaker assembly positioned within the encased space, the speaker assembly having a sound radiating surface facing the metal portion of the enclosure wall, a voice coil extending from the sound radiating surface, a magnet assembly having a magnetic gap aligned with the voice coil, and an acoustic chamber formed, in part, by the metal portion of the enclosure wall and the sound radiating surface.
