  • Publication number: 20230220497
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for high throughput screening and detection of nucleic acids from pathogens, such as SARS CoV-2, using nucleic acid amplification with nanoparticle binding complex formation and MRI or NMR detection. In certain embodiments, the MRI is three-dimensional MRI that simultaneously detects a plurality of amplified nucleic acid-nanoparticle complexes. In certain embodiments, the nucleic acids are amplified by isothermal LAMP techniques. In other embodiments, the nucleic acids are amplified by PCR. Methods of the invention are particularly useful rapid screening of large number of samples during pandemic situations.

  • Patent number: 8080901
Abstract: An electricity generation system that uses smart pavement is presented, which pavement is comprised of materials that use solar radiation, piezo electricity, and temperature differentials within the road surface itself to create electric power. The pavement is multi-level, modular in construction, and comprised of photo-piezo-thermo-voltaic (PPTV) materials and physical means to capture the motion of passing vehicles as energy.

  • Publication number: 20100077843
Abstract: A substance identification system comprises interrelated components. A fluidics cartridge is configured to permit suspension of a sample of a substance of interest in a liquid medium, and to permit transfer of the suspended sample into a container via syringe/needle action or other suitable actuation means. The container is configured to be fixedly or removably coupled with the fluidics cartridge. An interface cartridge is configured to position the container for analysis by a portable substance identification device.
