  • Patent number: 11564245
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive an uplink grant via downlink control signaling for a cell group. The UE may determine an uplink error rate for the cell group based on the downlink control signaling. The UE may identify a radio link failure condition for uplink based on the uplink error rate exceeding an uplink error rate threshold. The UE may transmit a radio link failure indication indicating that the radio link failure condition is based on the uplink error rate. The network may send a cell group reconfiguration message to the UE to release the cell group.

  • Patent number: 11304198
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described Generally, the described techniques provide for dynamically adjusting PDCP data splitting based on traffic parameters. In some examples, a wireless device may allocate data between first and second radio access technologies. The wireless device may receive a first set of data traffic parameters from a medium access control layer at the wireless device, where the data traffic parameters are associated with the first radio access technology. The wireless device may receive a second set of data traffic parameters from a medium access control layer at a second wireless device, where the data traffic parameters are associated with the second radio access technology. The wireless device may adjust the data allocation to the first and second radio access technologies based on receiving the first and second sets of data traffic parameters.

  • Publication number: 20210194639
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A device may tailor its operations to different configurations or conditions by adjusting procedures associated with a radio link control (RLC) layer by reference to a value defined at a medium access control (MAC) layer. The device may, for example, receive from a network a value for a timer associated with the retransmission of RLC packet data units (PDUs). The device may adjust the timer value based on a radio resource configuration or channel conditions, such as a number of RLC PDUs discarded or retransmitted in an interval defined by one or more MAC layer operations. In some examples, a ratio of discarded and retransmitted RLC PDUs and an interval for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmissions is used as basis for determining channel conditions and thus for selecting a timer value for RLC PDU retransmission.

  • Patent number: 10624015
Abstract: An apparatus of wireless communication is configured to compute an timing advance (TA) estimate for a target cell. The TA estimate may be computed based on a measured TA for the serving cell and a time difference between a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) from the serving cell and a CRS from the target cell. The apparatus is also configured to determine whether an overshoot condition has occurred based on the timing advance estimate for the target cell. Furthermore, the apparatus is configured to refrain from triggering a handover to the target cell if an overshoot condition has occurred.

  • Patent number: 9924471
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for facilitating dynamic measurement power offset adjustments for use in reporting channel quality feedback. A user equipment may generate and send a plurality of channel quality indicator (CQI) values to a base station. The base station determines whether at least some of the received CQI values are outside of an upper or lower threshold value. If at least some of the received CQI values are outside the upper or lower threshold value, the base station can transmit an adjusted measurement power offset to the user equipment. On receipt of the adjusted measurement power offset, the user equipment generates subsequent CQI values using the adjusted measurement power offset.

  • Publication number: 20160044736
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate random access procedures using one or more fallback access schemes after initial access attempts have failed. UE equipped to determine failure of a first access request to a first base station due to interference from a second base station. Further, a UE equipped to determine the failure can do so and implement one or more fallback access schemes in response to the determination. In one example, a fallback access scheme allows the UE to select a secondary carrier frequency for communications with the first base station. In another example, a fallback access scheme allows the UE to designate the first base station as inaccessible and communicate with other base stations.

  • Patent number: 9167495
Abstract: To determine a cell for usage in wireless communication, a signal-to-noise ratio or a signal-to-power ratio can be used in selecting an appropriate cell. However, cell selection can also configure to take both signal-to-noise ratio and signal-to-power ratio into account. Multiple available cells can be analyzed and a highest ranking cell can be selected through balancing the aforementioned ratios. In addition, to minimize transferring between cells, a limitation can be placed such that a cell is not left unless there is better of both the aforementioned ratios at another cell.

  • Patent number: 9125211
Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods and computer program products for traffic volume reporting during radio access network (RAN) connection setup. In one aspect, the RAN broadcasts an indicator that it accepts traffic volume measurements (TVM) from access terminals (ATs) and an associated TVM threshold. An AT measures its traffic volume before requesting a connection with the RAN. If the traffic volume is above the threshold, AT transmits to the RAN a connection request containing a TVM indicator that the measured traffic volume from the AT is above the threshold. If the traffic volume is below the threshold, AT transmits to the RAN a connection request containing a TVM indicator that the traffic volume is below the threshold.
