Abstract: An automobile propulsion system is disclosed. The system utilizes, at least in part, an electric motor to propel a vehicle. This is achieved by using the drive shaft of the vehicle as the axle of the motor. The electric motor can be used in conjunction with an internal combustion engine. The electric motor may be used to take over the continuous spinning of the vehicle drive train once the vehicle has reached a certain speed, or from a complete stop. This saves fuel, reducing the costs associated with operating the vehicle and decreasing the amount of toxic emissions and pollution. The vehicle motion can also be used to generate electrical power, which can be stored either in a capacitor, battery, or other device and which can be used later by the electric motor. The electric motor may be used with newly manufactured vehicles, or it may be retrofitted to previously manufactured vehicles.
