  • Patent number: 4529104
Abstract: An apparatus for heating air for a pneumatic conveyor implement is disclosed. Air is heated in a variety of fashions including passing input air to fan (26) through radiator (53) of fan drive motor (54). Air is also heated by mixing it with the exhaust gases from exhaust pipes (66), (72) from the propulsion engine of vehicle 16 or the fan drive engine (54). The heated air enhances distribution uniformity of substance 20 at the outputs (28) of the implement.

  • Patent number: 4489892
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for distributing a substance (18) from a container (16) among a plurality of delivery channels (22) is disclosed. Apparatus (10) includes an auger (20) for moving a stream of substance (18) upwardly for outward centrifugal deflection by paddles (44) into a plurality of distributor pockets (60). Substance (18) which impacts and is retained in distributor pocket areas falls gravitationally into delivery tubes (22) for subsequent movement by pressurized air to outputs (26).

  • Patent number: 4449667
Abstract: An apparatus for folding an outboard boom on a liquid spraying element is disclosed. The apparatus (20) both folds a portion of the boom (14) while simultaneously operating a valve device (22) controlling liquid ejection device (78) mounted on the folded portion (18) of the boom (14). In this fashion, boom (14) has an operational capability at both a longer and a shorter span width.

  • Patent number: 4394968
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a mechanism for angularly centering a boom structure as it is being elevated from a lower operating position to an elevated, transit position. A boom structure is pivotally mounted on a pin member. A hydraulic cylinder moves the pin member and the boom structure upwardly or downwardly. As the boom structure is moved from a lower, operating position to an upper, transit position, a pair of chains, one attached between the boom structure and the vehicle holding it on each side of a vertical plane passing through the pin member, self-centers the boom structure.

  • Patent number: 4344572
Abstract: A positioning apparatus (18) for boom structures (14, 16) is disclosed. The positioning apparatus (18) is comprised of a fixed frame assembly (24) mounted to vehicle (12), a slideable frame assembly (22) for vertical slideable movement with respect to fixed frame assembly (24), and a pivotable frame assembly (20) for rotatable movement with respect to slideable frame assembly (22). Boom structures (14, 16) are mounted on opposite sides of pivotable frame assembly (20). The pivotal axis of the pivotable frame assembly (20) is above the center of gravity of the pivotable frame assembly (20) and attached boom structures (14, 16) to keep the boom structures (14, 16) pendulously stable when implement (10) strikes a bump in a field. Springs (112, 118) and shock absorbers (120) recenter pivotal frame assembly (20) relative to implement (10).
