  • Publication number: 20200022819
Abstract: A multi-matrix composite socket includes struts formed from a first matrix composite and inner and outer layers relative to the struts formed from at least a second matrix composite. Each matrix composite is comprised of fibers embedded in a resin. The fibers create spaces into which a flowable resin infuses during manufacturing and also reinforce the resin. A base and a plurality of struts are assembled and positioned over a first fabric layer and a second fabric layer is positioned over the struts. A resin is infused into the spaces defined by the first and second fabric layers and around the struts to form an over-molded multi-composite matrix socket.

  • Publication number: 20190380848
Abstract: A prosthesis system for connection to a user's residual limb includes a socket defining a cavity to receive the residual limb. The system includes a cable laced about the socket. The cable has at least one portion that extends below a distal end of the socket. The system includes an adjustment mechanism coupled to the socket and disposed below the distal end of the socket. The adjustment mechanism is coupled to the at least one portion of the cable extending below the distal end of the socket. The adjustment mechanism is configured to adjust the tension in the cable for adjusting the fit between the socket and the residual limb. Also, the system includes a prosthetic extremity coupled to the socket and extending below the socket.

  • Patent number: 10206795
Abstract: An osseointegrated abutment support socket for a residual limb in which an osseointegrated abutment has been implanted is described. The osseointegrated abutment support socket may include a distal socket base assembly, multiple longitudinal struts and a percutaneous site protector. The distal socket base assembly may include a base plate, a collar extending proximally from the base plate and forming a receptacle for receiving a distal end of the osseointegrated abutment, and a strut support ring disposed around the collar. The struts are connected at their distal ends to the strut support ring and extend proximally upward. The percutaneous site protector contacts a distal surface of the residual limb near a percutaneous site where the distal end of the osseointegrated abutment exits the residual limb.

  • Publication number: 20180020973
Abstract: A system and method are described for profiling a distribution of forces transferred from the body weight and the residual limb of a wearer of a prosthetic socket through the socket. The system may include a prosthetic socket, a sensor network comprising multiple sensors coupled with the prosthetic socket in a pattern defining multiple internal regions within the prosthetic socket, and a processor coupled with the sensor network and configured to receive sensed data from the sensor network, divide the sensed data into groups corresponding to the multiple internal regions within the prosthetic socket, and process the sensed data to provide force distribution profile data corresponding to the force distribution profile.

  • Publication number: 20170079828
Abstract: A system of multiple scoliosis treatment braces is custom fitted for a torso of a patient and organized in a sequential series, with each of the braces varying from a previous brace in the series by at least one shape characteristic. The sequential series of braces includes an initial treatment brace with an initial configuration that conforms to an initial shape of the torso, a final treatment brace with a final configuration that approximates a desired shape of the torso, and at least one intermediate treatment brace with an intermediate configuration that approximates a torso shape between the initial configuration and the final configuration. The initial configuration, the intermediate configuration and the final configuration may be determined, at least in part, by a single digital profile of the torso of the patient.
