  • Publication number: 20210369892
Abstract: System and method for pathogen inactivation with UV-C light (employed by itself or in addition to filtering out particulates rom the flow of air reaching the user) by delivering, into a lightguide portion of the air inactivation chamber of the system, a dose of ultraviolet radiation sufficient for at least one log reduction level of the pathogen while, at the same time, multiply reflecting the light inside the chamber to increase the irradiance of inactivating light several fold (up to 5×, or even up to 8.6×) as compared to that delivered to the chamber.

  • Publication number: 20180252506
Abstract: A method and device for interfering with or reducing the activity of one or more targets by over-stimulating the targets optic nerve with a high intensity incoherent light beam (HIILB) emanating from an electrode-free plasma (EFS) lamp. The steps of the method include providing a HIILB from an EFS lamp housed in a device and directing the beam at the one or more targets when facing the device. The device includes an outer housing with a head portion having a window opening for transmitting a HIILB, an optical system mounted in the head portion facing the window, one or more EFP lamps mounted at the focus of the optical system to collimate the light towards the window, an electrical circuit for driving the one or more lamps wherein the electrical circuit has an energy source and a plasma lamp induction coupling to the energy source for operation.

  • Patent number: 6863873
Abstract: A hydrometallurgical process utilizing an atmospheric calcium chloride leach to selectively recover from various metal feed stocks (consisting of elemental metals, metal oxides, metal ferrite, metal hydroxide, metal carbonates, metal sulfate/sulfur compounds, and their hydrates, specifically including but not limited to EAF Dust K061) zinc, lead, cadmium, silver, copper and other valuable metals to the exclusion of iron, magnesium, halogen salts and other unwanted elements. The process solves the problem of iron and magnesium leach solution contamination because iron is unexpectedly converted to magnetite. The heavy metals are cemented out of solution using zinc or other selected dust at a pH of 6 or greater under unique and unexpected conditions, which do not require acid.
    Type: Grant
