  • Patent number: 10751151
Abstract: A thermoforming aid for use in creating a thermoformed impression of an object such as a dental arch. The thermoforming aid has a thermoformable sheet which has inherent tendency to curl, and a curl-resistant element which prevents the thermoformable sheet from curling. The thermoforming aid makes a person's task of placing a sheet of thermoformable material, especially a very thin sheet having an inherent tendency to curl, in proper position in a thermoforming machine less difficult and less time-consuming.

Abstract: A thermoforming aid for use in creating a thermoformed impression of an object such as a dental arch. The thermoforming aid has a thermoformable sheet which has inherent tendency to curl when unsupported, and a curl-resistant element which prevents the thermoformable sheet from curling. The thermoforming aid makes a person's task of placing a sheet of thermoformable material, especially a very thin sheet having an inherent tendency to curl, in proper position in a thermoforming machine less difficult and time-consuming.

  • Patent number: 10011399
Abstract: A hermetically sealed enclosure for use in fabricating a polymeric dental article. Monomers are mixed within the enclosure by squeezing a first burst pouch to break a first burst seal between it and a second burst pouch and manipulating the enclosure by hand to initiate a polymerization reaction while the enclosure remains hermetically sealed. A second burst seal between the second burst pouch and a dispensing funnel chamber is broken by further squeezing which forces the mixture into the dispensing funnel chamber. The mixture is dispensed from an outlet of the dispensing funnel chamber by further squeezing after a tear-off strip closing the outlet has been torn off.

  • Patent number: 9911363
Abstract: An arch model has a set of teeth and a wall which bridges the set of teeth and has a surface opposite the set of teeth. A cover which contains informational material about the dental arch model separably attaches to the wall of the dental arch model. Different informational material can be presented by removing the cover and replacing it with another cover which contains the different informational material.

  • Patent number: 9717568
Abstract: A dental arch model fabricated by a 3-D printing process is covered by conforming a liquid-dissolvable sheet of material onto a portion of the dental arch model to physically isolate material from which the dental arch model has been fabricated from material which will be used to fabricate an intra-oral device. The sheet material is a barrier which renders the material of the dental arch model and the material of the intra-oral device immune to chemical reaction with each other. After the device has been removed from the model, liquid is applied to the liquid-dissolvable material on the model. Instead of using a sheet as a barrier, a conditioning coating may be applied to the arch model, and a release coating is applied over the conditioning coating.

  • Publication number: 20170086945
Abstract: Procedures for bonding a dental treatment element, such as an orthodontic bracket, on a patient's tooth. A sheet assembly is used to fabricate an impression of at least a portion of a patient's dental arch while also capturing and holding a dental treatment device which is being releasably held on the patient's arch model. The sheet assembly has a sheet which is suitable for use in an intra-oral environment and is both formable and liquid-soluble. It also has at least one stiffener element disposed on the sheet's perimeter margin while leaving a central zone of the sheet uncovered.

  • Patent number: 9526591
Abstract: A process of applying at least one dental element to a patient's arch employs a device having a support tray shaped to fit to at least a portion of a patient's dental arch. A formed, liquid-soluble material (such as a thin starch layer formed from a starch sheet) is supported by the support tray and holds at least one dental element in a location for allowing an exposed surface of the at least one dental element to be applied to a patient's dental arch. Afterwards, the support tray is removed from the liquid-soluble material and the liquid-soluble is removed by dissolving it in a liquid, such as water.

  • Patent number: 9378660
Abstract: An arch model has a set of teeth and a wall which bridges the set of teeth and has a surface opposite the set of teeth. A sheet containing indicia is placed between the surface of the arch model and a transparent zone of a cover. The cover is separably attached to the arch model. The resulting arch model has the sheet containing indicia disposed between the surface of the arch model and the transparent zone of the cover so that the indicia can be read through the cover. The sheet can be replaced by separating the cover from the arch model, replacing the sheet, and then re-attaching the cover.

  • Patent number: 8709180
Abstract: A template for positioning a door edge guard on a vehicle is disclosed. The template includes a main body, an edge, which can form a cutout, which aligns with an item of known fixed position on the vehicle, such as a door handle, and a stop extending from the main body of the template to position one end of the door edge guard. The template is taped onto the vehicle or an easily removed adhesive is used or the template is magnetic. A method for positioning a door edge guard on a vehicle, includes the steps of creating a template having a main body, a cutout formed in the main body to fit over an item of known fixed position on the vehicle, and a stop extending from the main body, positioning the template so that the cutout fits over the item of known fixed position on the vehicle and the stop extends to the edge of the door, which is to receive the door edge guard, and positioning the door edge guard on the edge of the door so the one end of the door edge guard abuts the stop.

  • Publication number: 20130061531
Abstract: A door edge guard for a trailing edge of a car door having a seam covered by sealant on the interior of the door, includes a metal body having an internal portion facing the trailing edge of the door and an exterior portion facing away from the trailing edge, a curved base adapted to fit over the trailing edge, and an exterior leg extending from the base to fit against the exterior of the door. An interior leg fits against that part of the interior of the door extending from the base to near the sealant. The end of the leg of the metal body on the exterior of the door is folded to form a bead, but the interior leg is straight. The interior leg is also shorter than the exterior leg, the length of the interior leg typically being the length of the exterior leg to the folded end of the bead.
