  • Patent number: 8032293
Abstract: In a method for controlling an internal combustion engine, in particular a diesel internal combustion engine, at least one variable is formed on a cylinder-specific basis, which variable characterizes a respective profile of a combustion in an associated combustion chamber, and the control of cylinder-specific fuel injection parameters is influenced as a function of said at least one variable which characterizes the combustion profile.

  • Patent number: 7337771
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for the cylinder-specific determination and control of a fuel injection quantity for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, the exhaust gas pressures of the cylinders of the internal combustion engine is recorded on a time-resolved, i.e. crankshaft angle-resolved, basis, and an exhaust gas pressure is calculated therefrom individually for each cylinder and used to determine the fuel quantity injected into the corresponding cylinder. In a comparison with a desired value the cylinder-specific actual fuel injection quantity error is then determined and used to set a corrected quantity of fuel to be injected into the corresponding cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20060064231
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a corresponding apparatus for detecting the rotational speed of turbochargers, especially on internal combustion engines in motor vehicles, with the steps: recording the body sound (SE) of the turbocharger and analyzing the frequency spectrum (30, 31, 32, 33) of the recorded body sound (SE). According to the invention, in the analysis of the frequency spectrum several frequency signals (SD1, SD2, SD3) are determined, which represent possible rotational speeds of the turbocharger, an amplitude analysis of the recorded body sound (SE) is performed in order to determine an estimated value (SD-estimate) for the turbocharger speed, and the estimated value (SD-estimate) is correlated with the several frequency signals (SD1, SD2, SD3) in order to determine the frequency signal (SD2) as the actual turbocharger rotational speed (Dactual) which correlates with the greatest probability with the obtained estimate (SD-estimate).

  • Patent number: 6502067
Abstract: A method for processing a sound signal y in which redundancy, consisting mainly of almost repetitions of signal profiles, is detected and correlations between the signal profiles are determined within segments of the sound signal. Correlated signal components are allocated to a power component and uncorrelated signal components to a noise component of the sound signal. The correlations between the signal profiles are determined by methods of nonlinear noise reduction in deterministic systems in reconstructed vector spaces based on the time domain.
