  • Patent number: 11131165
Abstract: This disclosure provides a completion tool that uses a rolling seal to actuate a flow valve or replace a piston in a down hole tool. The rolling seal is located in a fluid chamber of the completion tool and divides the fluid chamber into first and second smaller fluid chambers and fluidly seals the first smaller fluid chamber from the second smaller fluid chamber. The rolling seal responds to a fluid pressure within the fluid chamber that causes the closed end of the rolling seal to invert thereby transferring fluid pressure between the first and second fluid chambers, which actuates a flow valve actuation assembly.

  • Patent number: 10724342
Abstract: Systems and methods for actuating a downhole tool using an improved low load collet. The low load collet may include a multi-angle profile that enables the collet to provide a low-load actuation force threshold in one direction, while maintaining a strong interference between the collet and corresponding actuation mechanism. To that end, the collet may include a first protrusion disposed on a first collet spring and a second protrusion disposed on a second collet spring. The first and second protrusions each feature a high-load ramped surface on one side and a low-load ramped surface on an opposite side. The low-load ramped surface of the first protrusion has a shallow angle and the low-load ramped surface of the second protrusion has a steep angle that is larger than the shallow angle.

  • Patent number: 10487614
Abstract: An annular sealing assembly and method are disclosed. The assembly includes a mandrel and an expandable element disposed around the mandrel which expands to seal against the inner diameter of a tubing or casing string. The expandable element seals the mandrel from the annulus between the mandrel and the tubing string. The assembly includes at least one back¬up element having a plurality of pivoting blades circumferentially secured in a ring around the mandrel. The back-up element is capable of radially expanding and contracting upon longitudinal movement along, and engagement with, a generally ring-shaped ramp. A guide ring guides the back-up element along the guide ramp. The method is directed to expanding the expandable element to seal the annulus and the back-up element so the blades come in contact with the inner diameter of the tubing string preventing the expandable element from extruding outward into the annulus beyond the back-up element.

  • Publication number: 20180195366
Abstract: An assembly includes a fastener deployable in a wellbore and actuated by a shape-memory alloy. The shape-memory alloy releaseably interlocks multiple components deployed in the wellbore. The physical shape of the shape-memory alloy can be selectively changed between a first shape and a second shape.
