  • Patent number: 5458445
Abstract: A tool holder, particularly a fast exchange chuck preferably for thread cutting, thread shaping and the like has a receptacle having one end receivable in a machine spindle, a machine tool receptacle and the like, and another opposite end provided with a head having a coaxial cylindrical head opening, a housing received and guided in the cylindrical head opening non-rotatably but displaceably in a longitudinal direction and provided with a coaxial cylindrical housing opening, a fast exchange insert insertable in the housing opening a torque-transmitting unit for transmitting torque between the head and the housing and including a head longitudinal groove provided in the head, a housing longitudinal groove provided in the housing, and at least one drive body partially received in each of the longitudinal grooves so as to transmit torque between the head and the housing and to roll during a relative displacement between said head and said housing.

  • Patent number: 4547105
Abstract: A quick-change chuck for holding a tap of a tap drill comprises a member connectable to the spindle of the drill and a chuck head for holding the tool. The chuck is further provided with the device for an axial compensation for a difference between the spindle stroke and the pitch of the thread of the tap drill. This device includes a compression-responsive device which makes possible an axial compensation in the case of the compression force directed towards the spindle-receiving member, and a separate independent tension-responsive device which makes possible an axial compensation when a tension force acts on the chuck in the direction away from the spindle-receiving member. Each axial compensation device includes axially displaceable balls positioned in axial cylindrical passages provided in the spindle-receiving member and the chuck head, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4309042
Abstract: The quick-change chuck is adapted to be fitted on a shank sleeve fitted is inserted to rotate therewith. A locking nut screws on the locking sleeve and a ball sleeve is carried by the shank sleeve. The ball sleeve has an annular extension piece with locking balls in an annular groove of the locking nut. A connector bush is axially displaceably held on the ball sleeve, is subject to the axial pressure of a spring, and has inner reception part and a substantially frusto-conically converging ramp face. A detent device automatically detains the connector bush in relation to the ball sleeve in its axial release position against self-effected dropping back into the locking position under the action of the spring, and on the introduction of the locking sleeve can be over-ridden with subsequent automatic axial displacement of the connector bush by means of the spring into its locking position.
