  • Patent number: 5546876
Abstract: A sewing unit with a thread-guiding needle, with a lock stitch hook with a thread reserve, with a fabric holder that can be moved in any direction relative to the needle axis, and with a fabric presser foot with a needle passage opening, which can be placed on the fabric in cycle with the movement of the needle. Loop or twist stitches are formed in an area of the possible directions of movement of the fabric holder. To pull these stitches reliably into the fabric, the needle passage opening is asymmetrically widened beginning from the site of the needle passage, namely, elliptically beginning from a part semi-circularly surrounding the site of the needle passage in one design, and angularly with an arched limiting edge connecting the legs of the angle in another design.

  • Patent number: 5018460
Abstract: An embroidering machine with a mounting device for individual embroidery hoops is provided with a design in which each individual embroidery hoop is always mounted with the same holding force and is always brought into the correct position for the start of the embroidery process. To ensure the three-point mounting of the individual embroidery hoop, which consists of an inner hoop and an outer hoop surrounding it, with the fabric to be embroidered located between them, the mounting device comprises two opposite holders, one of which has two contact surfaces enclosing an angle for fitted support surfaces of the outer hoop, and the other holder having a bow spring with a depression for a projection arranged on the outer hoop on the bisector of the angle enclosed between the contact surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4715303
Abstract: A lubricating device for a revolving lock stitch shuttle of machines such as sewing and embroidering machines comprises a shuttle body which has a hub portion which surrounds its associated shuttle arbor and which lies adjacent a bearing mounting for the arbor. The hub portion is hollow and defines a lubricating oil chamber between it and the associated bearing and a gap between the shuttle hub portion and the associated bearing is bridged by a fixed ring member which is carried on a bracket which is secured to the bearing. The ring member has an opening therethrough providing an access for a nozzle tube for feeding oil from an external reservoir to the hub recess from when the oil is advanced by the centrifugal force of the rotation of the shuttle to the periphery of the shuttle.

  • Patent number: 4644881
Abstract: An apparatus for securing and releasing an embroidery frame to a clamping rail comprises a connecting piece guide with a bore therethrough and a rod extending through the bore and extending along the clamping rail and guided in the bore for movement in the connecting piece guide bore. The rod carries a pressure piece which is movable with the rod. The clamping rail has a plurality of spaced apart embroidery frame pin receiving openings and embroidery frames are secured by inserting the pins of the frame into the openings. Each pin has a side with a cutout and each pin receiving opening has a fixed spacer plate adjacent the opening which carries a resilient holder which may be engaged in a cutout of the embroidery frame pin when it is inserted into the associated opening.

  • Patent number: 4558654
Abstract: A device for stopping the machine drive of a needle movable in cooperation with a rotary hook of a sewing, embroidering or tufting machine upon a thread breakage comprises a thread cutting mechanism which includes a thread catcher movable through the needle path and a switching mechanism which is connected to the drive for disconnecting it and which becomes effective upon a thread breakage. The device includes a movably mounted thread feeler carrier having a thread feeler which is adapted to be located between the needle and the rotary hook. The drive mechanism for actuating the thread catcher includes control cams which are engageable with lifting cams so as to project the feeler out of the path of motion of the thread between the needle and the rotary hook. The thread feeler is associated with a piezoelectric element and the deflection of the feeler by the thread produces a pulse which regulates the drive mechanism for the sewing machine and effects the stopping thereof when the threads are cut.
