  • Publication number: 20030195450
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating infant plagiocephaly whereby a helmet encircles the upper cranium of an infant and prevents the infant from resting its head on flattened or depressed regions of the skull. The helmet contemplates an adjustable first member which encircles the infant's upper cranium, and a second member comprising a relatively rigid protruding element that is attached to the exterior surface of the first member. The second member is positioned so that it is superincumbant to flattened or depressed regions, so that when the helmet is worn, the second member forces the infant to rest its head on a different area of the skull, thus passively relieving pressure on the depressed skull, and applying a gentle active pressure to other areas. Additionally, the method an apparatus relates to the treatment of torticollis and other abnormalities of the neck.

  • Publication number: 20010040372
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for labeling food products or packaging thereof, wherein a graphical representation such as a bar graph allows visual comparison and evaluation of levels of nutitionally important food product components. In addition of the relative length or height of columns of a bar graph, graded progression in color intensity or transitions from one color to another may be used to show various levels of a food product component. Standard columns may also be used to show acceptable levels by reference to an external standard. An axis to the graphical representation may also provide numerical data in relation to the levels of food product components.

  • Publication number: 20010029956
Abstract: A method of treating tissue damage comprises applying a negative pressure to a wound sufficient in time and magnitude to promote tissue migration and thus facilitate closure of the wound. The method is applicable to wounds, burns, infected wounds, and live tissue attachments. A wound treatment apparatus is provided in which a fluid impermeable wound cover is sealed over a wound site. A screen in the form of an open-cell foam screen or a rigid porous screen is placed beneath the wound cover over the wound. A vacuum pump supplies suction within the wound cover over the treatment site.
