  • Publication number: 20080225736
Abstract: Adaptive data transmission is accomplished by allotting transmission to data of a data package via a communications connection. In one embodiment, the steps comprise determining the transmission speed available using an open connection; estimating time of transmission of the data package in accordance with the determined transmission speed and size of the data package; comparing the time of transmission to a predetermined maximum time limit, and if the time of transmission is within the predetermined maximum time limit, allotting transmission via the open connection to the data package; else, if the time of transmission exceeds the predetermined maximum time limit, breaking the data package into segments, each of which fits within the predetermined maximum time limit, assigning priorities to each the segment in accordance with information within each the segment, and allotting transmission via the open connection to the one of the segments having the highest priority.

  • Publication number: 20080155124
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for remote multi-user KVM switching. The apparatus for remote multi-user KVM switching is provided with a plurality of modules configured to functionally execute the necessary steps of communicating a user-interface signal with a user-interactive device, converting between the user-interface signal and a network signal comprising user-interface information, and communicating the network signal with a remote device. These modules in the described embodiments include a KVM module, a conversion module, and a network module. Beneficially, such an apparatus, system, and method may allow multiple remote users to interact with multiple servers, workstations, peripheral devices, and the like. The remote users may be able to communicate with such devices using KVM information communicated across a network without requiring additional software applications or high-speed network capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20070294604
Abstract: To log errors of a plurality of subsystems, a master reporting tool provides a table identifying the subsystems and their interface protocol addresses with respect to a network. A subsystem reports errors, via the network, to the master reporting tool, and the reporting subsystem identifies and reports other subsystems associated with the errors, if any, to the master reporting tool. The master reporting tool employs the interface addresses of the table to request reportable data from the other subsystems identified by the originally reporting subsystem as associated with the reported error. The network may be separate from a data handling network of the data handling system.
