  • Patent number: 5022680
Abstract: A spray-suppressant splash guard is adapted to depend from a vehicle body rearwardly of a wheel of the body and is provided with vertically extending channel means open at least the lower end thereof and baffle means which extend from the rib in a disposition whereby spray thrown rearwardly by the vehicle wheel will enter the channel means and rebound from a splash surface of the splash guard to be intercepted, in part, by the baffle means. The portion so intercepted will be confined to the channel means for discharge at the lower open end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4726599
Abstract: A mudflap assembly (10) mounts a mudflap (14) onto a vehicle frame. The mudflap assembly (10) includes a downwardly extending mudflap. The mudflap (14) is suspended from a support bar (16) and provides spray suppression. A bracket member (18) secures the mudflap (14) to the support bar (16). The bracket member (18) has an end flap (22) which extends downwardly from the bracket member (18) to conceal an outer end of the support bar (16) from view. The bracket member (18) can also include a crimped portion (23) at an inner end thereof for limiting vertical movement of the bracket member (18) relative to the support bar (16).

  • Patent number: 4706980
Abstract: A quarter fender 12 is mounted to a vehicle frame 14 by a mounting assembly 10. The fender 12 includes a pair of downwardly depending flanges 22 extending along longitudinal sides 20 thereof. A mounting rod 16 is secured to and positioned transversely of the longitudinal axis of the frame 14. The mounting assembly 10 comprises an L-shaped saddle 42 securely engaging an inside top portion 76 and the inside flange 22 of the fender 12; an L-shaped bracket 44 securely engaging substantially the full width of a bottom portion 78 and the inside flange 22 of the fender 12; a seat 50 secured to the saddle 42 and positioned along a transverse axis of the fender 12; and amounting tube 46 secured within the seat and an inner end 75 of which slidably and securely engages the mounting rod 16.

  • Patent number: 4461491
Abstract: A trailer sand shoe (10) mounted to the legs of a trailer vehicle includes a rectangular metal base plate (12) and upstanding sides (14) and (16) fixed to the base plate (12). The central portions of the side plates (14) and (16) have openings (32) in the top portion thereof for mounting the sand shoe (10) to the legs of the trailer vehicle. The base plate (12) includes an integral reinforcing portion (34) which extends perpendicularly between the side plates (14) and (16) and is formed from the base plate (12). The reinforcing portion (34) has a generally inverted V-shaped cross-sectional configuration. The central reinforcing portion (34) adds rigidity to the sand shoe (10) as well as reduces manufacturing costs by eliminating the need for a separate reinforcing member.
