  • Publication number: 20200195936
Abstract: An instantaneous decoder refresh, IDR, picture is encoded. The IDR picture occurs at a random access point in a bitstream of data, includes only intra-prediction slices, I-slices, and does not refer to any picture or pictures other than itself for prediction. When the IDR picture has a subsequent leading picture, a first Network Access Layer, NAL, unit type of the IDR picture is generated indicating that the IDR picture has a subsequent leading picture, and the first NAL unit type is encoded. When the IDR picture does not have a subsequent leading picture, a second Network Access Layer, NAL, unit type of the IDR picture is generated indicating that the IDR picture does not have a subsequent leading picture, the second NAL unit type being different from the first NAL unit type, and the second NAL unit type is encoded.

  • Patent number: 10602156
Abstract: An encoded bitstream of data including a plurality of encoded pictures is received. It is determined whether a first instantaneous decoding refresh (IDR) picture has one or more subsequent leading pictures included in the plurality of encoded pictures based on a Network Access Layer (NAL) unit type associated with the first IDR picture. The first IDR picture occurs at a random-access point in the encoded bitstream of data. When the NAL unit type of the first IDR picture is a first value indicating that the first IDR picture has one or more subsequent leading pictures, (i) the one or more subsequent leading pictures are decoded with reference to the first IDR picture based on the NAL unit type of the first IDR picture being the first value, and (ii) an output order is generated for the first IDR picture and the one or more subsequent leading pictures such that the one or more subsequent leading pictures precede the first IDR picture in the output order.

  • Patent number: 10116951
Abstract: A decoder that decodes video receives a bitstream containing quantized coefficient level values representative of a block of video representative of a plurality of pixels and a quantization parameter related to the block of video. A de-quantizer of the decoder de-quantizing the quantized coefficient level values based upon the quantized coefficient level values, the quantization parameter, and a weighting matrix. The decoder inverse transforming the dequantized coefficients to determine a decoded residue, where the quantized coefficient level values provided to the de-quantizer do not contain data that results in any quantized element level value that exceeds the range of integer values from ?215?QP/6 to 215?QP/6?1, inclusive.

  • Patent number: 9654139
Abstract: Provided is an electronic device configured for high throughput binarization mode. The electronic device includes a processor and instructions stored in memory that is in electronic communication with the processor. The electronic device obtains a block of transformed and quantized coefficients (TCQs). The electronic device determines whether a high throughput binarization mode condition is met. If the condition is met, the electronic device uses the high throughput binarization mode to process the block. If the condition is not met, the electronic device does not use the high throughput binarization mode to process the block. The electronic device transmits the generated first or second bitstream to a decoder.

  • Patent number: 9153965
Abstract: A method is provided for efficiently managing energy consumption using stored energy. The method accepts input energy (e.g., from a power utility) and maintains a record of energy consumption. An energy consumption peak is predicted in response to analyzing the record of energy consumption, and the input energy is augmented with stored energy during the predicted energy consumption peaks. More explicitly, a peak shaving value is selected based on a fraction of the predicted energy consumption peak, and the stored energy is used when energy consumption exceeds the peak shaving value. In one aspect, after a determination is made to use stored energy, it is simply used while it is available. Otherwise, it is supplied based upon an analysis of a predicted value of the stored energy.
