  • Patent number: 4744290
Abstract: A pivoted blade which has a centrally positioned V-shaped pin-receiving depression combined with a slidable mounting pin which is releasably secured within the depression in the blade. This pin comprises an elongated element which is circular in cross-section at one end thereof, and its other end is flattened at one side and of V-shape on the other side. The other end of the pin has a centrally positioned hole extending therethrough with this hole being centrally disposed with respect to the flattened side and extending through the apex of the V-shaped side. This centrally positioned hole is longer than it is wide with the longer cross-section extending longitudinally of the pin. The mounting pin is mounted at a side margin of the blade with the V-shaped portion of the pin fitting into the V-shaped depression in the blade and with the end of circular cross-section extending beyond the side margin of the blade.

  • Patent number: 4377350
Abstract: A cylindrical pivot for a multiblade damper assembly having at least three pivotally mounted blades is provided in which the blades are interlinked by connecting rods pivoted to brackets which are secured to each of the blades. Each bracket is formed with a pair of parallel extension arms which extend beyond an end of the blades, and these arms have opposed openings for receiving a cylindrical pivot at their outer ends. A cylindrical pivot is rotatably mounted in these opposed openings, each pivot having a threaded axial bore at both ends thereof and a cross hole extending therethrough. At least two of these pivots are axially joined together by means of a threaded rod which is preferably constituted by a studded connector having a centrally positioned flange which serves to insure that both pivots are adequately threaded on, and it also serves as a stop when the pivot between the arms of the bracket carries no connecting rod.

  • Patent number: 4355567
Abstract: A mounting pin for a pivoted damper blade is disclosed which comprises a cylindrical shaft having a cenrtrally positioned hole extending therethrough, this hole being surrounded on one side of the pin with an upstanding flat seat. This hole is longer than it is wide so that it extends longitudinally of the pin. Also, the pin at one side of the seat is formed to include longitudinal depressions which provide a plurality of circumferentially spaced arc segments which form an interrupted circle. This pin is mounted on a blade at a side margin thereof by means of a bolt extending through a hole in the blade and through the hole in the pin, and a nut is associated with the bolt, the nut locking against the flat seat of the pin. A resilient gasket is interposed between the head of the bolt and the rear face of the blade so that the bolt need not be held while the nut is tightened. Also, a locking washer is desirably interposed between the nut and the seat.

  • Patent number: 4305427
Abstract: A multiblade damper assembly having at least three pivotally mounted blades is provided with means to interlink these blades in which a bracket is secured to each of the blades with each bracket being formed with a pair of parallel extension arms which extend beyond an end of the blades, these arms having opposed openings for receiving a cylindrical pivot at their outer ends. A cylindrical pivot is rotatably mounted in these opposed openings, this cylindrical pivot having a threaded axial bore on at least one end thereof and a cross hole extending therethrough. At least one of the brackets has a second axially bored pivot with a cross hole extending therethrough rotatably secured to the pivot between the arms of said bracket and connecting rods interconnecting pairs of blades by having the opposite ends of each rod secured within the cross holes of said pivots, including both of said rotatably interconnected pivots.

  • Patent number: 4241539
Abstract: The sides of the blades in a pivoted blade structure are mounted against a laterally curved, relatively rigid, side seal strip having centrally positioned on the protruding portion of the curve a series of laterally spaced soft and flexible longitudinally extending teeth. The sides of the pivoted blades are supported by these teeth and are sealed by these teeth when the blades are in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4193605
Abstract: Seals for the edge of a pivoted blade are provided in which an elongated strip of rigid material of U-shaped cross-section having side walls the interior of at least one of which carries resilient teeth pointed toward the closed portion of the U, and the open end of the U is narrowed to enhance the grip of the seal on the edge of a blade. The preferred sealing expedient employs a flap which extends to one side of the strip and which is dimensioned so that it does not reach the free end of the adjacent side wall. In one form of the seal, the side wall opposite the flap is extended to lock with a bend on the edge of the blade. In a damper, the seal is mounted on the edge remote from the air flow into the damper so that the flap is biased against the adjoining blade and the air pressure serves to strengthen the seal.
