  • Publication number: 20240157821
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a power electronic energy conversion system comprising a first energy storage device configured to store DC energy and a first voltage converter configured to convert a second voltage from a remote power supply into a first charging voltage configured to charge the first energy storage device. The apparatus also includes a first controller configured to control the first voltage converter to convert the second voltage into the first charging voltage and to provide the first charging voltage to the first energy storage device during a charging mode of operation and communicate with a second controller located remotely from the power electronic energy conversion system to cause a second charging voltage to be provided to the first energy storage device during the charging mode of operation to rapidly charge the first energy storage device.

  • Patent number: 9874361
Abstract: A cooling system for a building including a lower space and an upper space with a ceiling positioned therebetween. The lower space has a window and an opening in the ceiling is spaced from the window so that the lower space is in air communication with the upper space. The window is covered by water absorbent, porous material having a water source in communication therewith. An opening from the upper space to the outdoors is positioned the length of the upper space from the opening in the ceiling. A fan system is positioned in the upper space to draw air form the lower space and directs the air out the opening to the outdoors. Whereby air is drawn through the water absorbent, porous material, through the opening in the ceiling, and travels the length of the upper space before exiting through the opening from the upper space to the outdoors.

  • Patent number: 5953676
Abstract: An improved fixed wired system and method of originating a call in a fixed wired system in which a remote station (10), which is wired to a communication terminal (15), such as a standard telephone, detects an off-hook state of the communication terminal (15), transmits a call origination request signal to a base station (20,25) via a radio link in response to the off-hook state detection, and delivers a dial tone to the communication terminal (15) upon receiving an acknowledgment from the base station (20,25). After a dial tone is delivered to the communication terminal (15) and the user begins dialing a directory number, the remote station (10) collects the dialed digits and forwards the dialed digits separately or in groups, to the base station (20,25) where the digits are analyzed to determine whether a complete directory number has been dialed.
