    Abstract: A pilot operated hydraulic holding valve includes a poppet valve member which is biased to close by the pressure generated by the load being held in direct proportion to the magnitude of that pressure, thereby eliminating the need for mechanical biasing means and reducing the pilot pressure required to open the valve at low load pressures.
