Patent number: 8052079Abstract: A swivel machine for wire processing includes a coiler arranged between a cutting-off/insulation-stripping unit and a second swivel arm. The cut length of wire whose leading wire-end has been processed is coiled by means of a coiling disk of the coiler. After the leading wire-end of the cut length of wire has been processed, it is grasped by the coiler. A belt drive then advances the wire by the desired length of the cut length of wire, and simultaneously the coiler coils the advancing wire into a coil. After the coiling operation, a linearly movable stacker unit grasps the coil, and the coiling disk releases the coil. After the trailing wire-end has been processed, the placement unit moves further in the wire advance direction to the deposit. While the trailing wire-end is being processed, and while traveling to the deposit, the coil is provided with a bind.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2008Date of Patent: November 8, 2011Assignee: Komax Holding AGInventors: Jean Paul Celoudoux, Bruno Daugy, Louis Soriano, Beat Estermann

Patent number: 6174395Abstract: A taping section of a harness making machine comprises a taping device, two conveyors and a bridging conveyor positioned therebetween. The bridging conveyor allows passage of pallets that carry nodes of a harness from the first conveyor to the second conveyor. Once a node has passed over from the first to the second conveyor, the bridging conveyor is vertically removed by the piston rod to allow the taping device to be positioned between the conveyors. The harness is received in a slot of the taping device which tapes the harness whilst it is axially moved by the conveyors until the second pallet reaches the taping device. The taping device is removed, the bridging conveyor inserted and the procedure continues as described above for taping the second section of of harness between the nodes. A simple automated procedure for taping harnesses is thus provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1998Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Assignee: Komax Holding AGInventor: Louis Soriano

Patent number: 5687477Abstract: A method of automatically manufacturing cable harnesses, and an apparatus and assembly for implementing the method. The assembly includes a main conveyor capable of transporting wires by means of transfer clamps, a secondary conveyor capable of transporting unique transfer trays, themselves capable of receiving at least one component. Transfer trays are loaded into the secondary conveyor, where they pass through a component loading station for receiving components, then the trays travel to an insertion zone. The insertion zone includes a device for transferring the loaded trays from the secondary conveyor to the main conveyor, where the components receive the wire ends for forming the cable bundles. The formed bundles are then transferred away from the insertion zone by the main conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1996Date of Patent: November 18, 1997Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventor: Louis Soriano
