  • Publication number: 20110224663
Abstract: A system for providing power suitable for electrosurgery from a self-contained direct current (DC) energy source according to embodiments of the present invention includes a voltage-affecting circuit having an input and an output, wherein the voltage-affecting circuit is configured to receive energy from the DC energy source at the input and provide boosted DC energy at the output, the boosted DC energy having a voltage greater than a voltage of the DC energy source, and an inverter operable to invert the boosted DC energy to alternating current (AC) energy. The inverter may include a bridge circuit including an arrangement of switches and having an input and an output, wherein the boosted DC energy is received at the bridge circuit input, and a bridge controller operable to control the arrangement of switches to selectively connect the bridge circuit input to the bridge circuit output.

  • Publication number: 20050177243
Abstract: A subtalar implant device (12) includes a rounded end cap region (20), a threaded region (18) having threads (34), and a core (16) having a first end (24), a second end (26), a core exterior (28) and a longitudinal axis (32). The threads (34) can have a shape that varies between the first end (24) and the second end (26) of the core (16). For example, the threads (34) can include an outer edge (45) having an edge width (46) that varies. Further, the threads (34) can include a thread depth (44) that can vary between the first end (24) and the second end (26) of the core (16). A thread radius of curvature varies at a different rate than a core radius of curvature. The core (16) can define one or more core apertures (30) that extend through the core (16) at various angles relative to the longitudinal axis (32). In one embodiment, two core apertures (30) are positioned at an angle greater than zero degrees relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 5549690
Abstract: A method for modeling a prosthetic CMC thumb joint, and the joint manufactured therefrom, involves anatomically locating the two non-perpendicular and non-intersecting axes of rotation for the joint. The surface of revolution about these two axes, which is a torus, is then used to mathematically model the bearing surfaces of the prosthetic joint.
