  • Publication number: 20100026889
Abstract: RGB to NTSC/PAL encoders—as an example—commonly convert red, green and blue colour component signals (RGB) into their corresponding luminance (luma) and chrominance (chroma) signals in the respective standards in order to generate a composite video signal which can be used in connection with television sets and the like. Thereby, roughly spoken, the luminance signal represents the monochrome or black-and-white portion of the composite video signal and the chrominance signal represents the colour portion of the composite video signal.
