Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-supporting tyre (100) for motor vehicles which comprises sidewall reinforcing inserts (113A, 113B) with different stiffness. In particular, the sidewall reinforcing insert on the side of the tyre most stressed during driving is less rigid than the sidewall reinforcing insert on the less stressed side. The tyre of the invention exhibits a reduced rolling resistance and better comfort in normal driving and an unexpected increase in mileage in run-flat driving.

Abstract: A tyre for vehicle wheels comprises a carcass structure including at least one carcass ply having a plurality of hybrid reinforcing cords (10). Each hybrid reinforcing cord (10) comprises at least two strands (20a, 20b) twisted together with a predetermined twisting pitch (P). Each of said at least two strands (20a, 20b) comprises at least one monofilament textile wire made of polyester fibres and at least one multifilament textile yarn (22a, 22b) comprising a plurality of textile filaments (23a, 23b) made of aramid and/or polyester and/or rayon fibres. In any cross section of the hybrid reinforcing cord (10), said at least one monofilament textile wire is at least partially embedded in the filaments (23a, 23b) of said at least one multifilament textile yarn (22a, 22b).

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a system for the processing of an end-of-use pneumatic tyre that is provided with an inner lining (SAL) layer manufactured with a sealing agent intended to seal any punctures and at least partially applied to the surface of an inner cavity (2) of the end-of-use pneumatic tyre; the system (1) comprises an applicator device (6), which is provided with at least one nozzle (13) which dispenses a cryogenic fluid, preferably liquid nitrogen, upon the (SAL) layer of sealing agent in such a way that the (SAL) layer of sealing agent reaches the solid state; a device (14) for the removal of the (SAL) layer of solid sealing agent that is provided with a tool (16) for removing the (SAL) layer of solid sealing agent by means of mechanical abrasion; and a circuit (17) for suctioning the solid sealing agent removed by the tool (16).
