  • Patent number: 11395392
Abstract: A monitor device is provided for monitoring a lighting arrangement of lighting elements of unknown electrical load, and a driver using the monitoring arrangement. A set of duty cycles is applied to switches which control sub-sets of lighting elements thereby to create a desired light output. With this desired duty cycle setting, the current for an individual duty cycle period is monitored, in particular to detect variations in a current plateau level within the individual duty cycle period. This is used to determine electrical characteristics or parameters including at least a cable resistance between a power supply unit and the lighting arrangement. A power consumption of the lighting arrangement may then be obtained. This avoids the need to probe the sub-sets of lighting elements individually in order to determine the nature of the load and its power consumption.

A set of duty cycles is applied to switches which control sub-sets of lighting elements thereby to create a desired light output. With this desired duty cycle setting, the current for an individual duty cycle period is monitored, in particular to detect variations in a current plateau level 5 within the individual duty cycle period. This is used to determine a power consumption of the lighting arrangement and to adjust the duty cycles as a function of the detected current. This avoids the need to probe the sub-sets of lighting elements individually in order to determine the nature of the load and its power consumption.

  • Patent number: 10595514
Abstract: An aquarium lighting system has a set of lighting elements (30) each with a beam shaping element (60, 70) for passing first light which is emitted from the lighting element at an angle to the normal below a threshold and for processing second light which is emitted from the lighting element at an angle to the normal above the threshold. The processing gives a greater amount of scattering compared to the passed light so that direct light at steep angles is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20180332690
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for resetting an electronic device using a bi-stable element that can be set into a first state by means of electronic control and into a second state by means of a mechanical movement while the electronic device is in a non-powered state. Thus, after power off, the mechanical movement can be used to reset the bi-stable element into the second state which may open the electronic device for commissioning in a network.

  • Patent number: 9763293
Abstract: Apparatuses for driving loads via converters comprise first circuits for interfacing phase-cut dimmers and the converters. Firing angles of the phase-cut dimmers correspond with first moments in time during periods of voltage signals presented to the phase-cut dimmers. The converters draw first current signals from second until third moments in time during the periods. Second circuits control the converters to draw second current signals from fourth until fifth moments in time during the periods, to improve an energy efficiency.

  • Patent number: 9532424
Abstract: Drivers (2) comprise converters (21) for converting input signals from dimmers (1) into output signals destined for light emitting diode circuits (3) and controllers (22) for detecting dimming levels of the input signals and for bringing the drivers (2) from first, normal dimming modes into second, eco dimming modes in response to detection results defining the dimming levels being equal to/smaller than threshold levels. In the first/second dimming modes, the first input signals are converted into first/second output signals according to first/second curves (I, II). The second curves (II) define higher light outputs than the first curves (I) for most of the dimming levels. Dimmers (1) comprise indicators (11, 2, 13) for indicating to users the dimming levels of the input signals being equal to/smaller than the threshold levels. The indicators (11, 12, 13) may comprise light emitting diode 10 apparatuses (11), mechanical clicks when turning knobs (12) and markers or markings (13) on the dimmer.

  • Publication number: 20160212806
Abstract: Apparatuses (1, 2) for driving loads (3) via converters (4) comprise first circuits (1) for interfacing phase-cut dimmers (5) and the converters (4). Firing angles of the phase-cut dimmers (5) correspond with first moments in time during periods of voltage signals presented to the phase-cut dimmers (5). The converters (4) draw first current signals from second until third moments in time during the periods. Second circuits (2) control the converters (4) to draw second current signals from fourth until fifth moments in time during the periods, to improve an energy efficiency. The first current signals may be delivered by supplies (6). The second current signals may be delivered by output capacitors (32, 34, 35) of the first circuits (1). The third moments in time may be adaptable. One or more of the first and second and third moments in time may be situated before a zero-crossing of the voltage signal and one or more of the fourth and fifth moments in time may be situated after the zero-crossing.
