  • Patent number: 6083024
Abstract: A connector assembly comprises a male connector with pin terminals, and a female connector with receptacle terminals matable therewith. The male terminal comprises a separator protrusion adjacent the contact engageable with separating extensions of contact arms of the female terminal. During coupling, the contact arms are biased apart by engagement with the separator protrusion thereby preventing rubbing of the contact surfaces during initial coupling. The latter reduces wear of the contact surfaces and also reduces mating forces.

  • Patent number: 6074245
Abstract: The method and the plug connector are employed in the transmission of data at high frequencies to reduce propagation delay differences in data transmission lines, where a data transmission line is connected to a plug connector having a conductive structure located between a conductor connection contact and an associated plug transfer contact, where during production, the propagation delay difference between the signals on the two conductors is measured and compensated for by removing conductor sections from the conductive structure for which the shorter propagation delay is measured in order to extend the length of the signal path.

  • Patent number: 5888096
Abstract: A shielded electrical connector having a housing and a cover each of which are formed by inmoulding an insulative portion respectively within a respective outer shield portion. Terminals are mounted within the housing and the housing and cover are joined together. Shielding characteristics are improved by a carrier strip interconnecting the shielding of adjacent connectors within a connector stack. Further shielding improvements are recognized by incorporating a contact surface external the shielding for engaging an outer reference terminal. The connector includes terminals having a floatable contact portion and a support feature for preventing damage to the terminals as a result of stubbing with a mating terminal. • Patent number: 5516984
Abstract: An insulating housing for mounting in a mating female connector housing of an electrical connector, whereby the insulating housing is a two-piece construction including a housing member which receives a cover therein. The cover comprises a strain relief member which, in a preferred embodiment, is integrally formed as part of the cover and which comprises a plurality of teeth. When the cover is mounted in the insulating housing, the strain relief member may be pivoted from an unlocked to a locked position, whereupon the plurality of teeth bite into the insulation of the insulated wires, thereby relieving strain on the insulated wires.

  • Patent number: 5496183
Abstract: Module terminals comprising a column of right angle contacts are assembled to a housing module for receiving post header terminals at one end and inserted into complimentary holes of a printed circuit board on the other end. Interposed between adjacent terminal modules are shielding members that serve to limit crosstalk between adjacent rows of contacts. The shielding members are attached to over-moulded insulative webs of the terminal module and are resiliently biased thereagainst so that they ensure good contact of an integral grounding pin with one of the right angle contacts of the terminal module and also to ensure a flush fit of the grounding shield against the terminal module.

  • Patent number: 5190470
Abstract: An electrical wire connector comprises a female insulating housing receiving a male insulating housing. The female housing has anchored therein, a plurality of electrical terminals each having a wire receiving part comprising a pair of arms connected by a bight and defining a wire receiving slot between upper parts of the arms. The arms are resiliently deflectable away from each other as a wire is inserted into the wire receiving slot up to wire contact surfaces between the upper parts of the arms. The male housing has a row of wire receiving passageways each intersecting a slot in the male housing, which slot receives the wire receiving part of a respective terminal when the male housing has been fully inserted into the female housing. Wires previously inserted into the wire receiving passages are forced into the wire receiving slots of the terminals during the insertion of the male housing into the female housing. The parts of each arm are so dimensioned that the wire insertion force is desirably low.
