Abstract: A chair base adapted to support a column and a chair seat. The chair base includes a hub having a central axis and a plurality of legs attached to and radially extending from the hub. A bore extends concentrically along the axis through the hub defining an interior wall within the hub. The interior wall includes an upper conical wall portion extending between a circular first upper edge and a circular first lower edge. The first upper edge has a larger diameter than the first lower edge such that the conical wall portion tapers inwardly and downwardly. The interior wall also includes a lower wall portion disposed below the upper conical wall portion which extends between a circular second upper edge and a circular second lower edge. The second upper edge of the lower wall portion has a diameter which is smaller than the diameter of the first lower edge of the upper conical wall portion.

Abstract: A twin wheel caster with a brake assembly formed as an integral part of the caster housing. The housing has a central body defining a notch therein and a resilient braking arm integrally formed with and extending downwardly from the central body movable between an unlocked position, whereby the caster wheels are permitted to rotate, and a locked position, whereby the wheels are prevented from rotating.

Abstract: An assembly for modular-type furniture is disclosed, including a vertical support post of rectangular cross-section, a panel and a horizontal structural member. At least one corner of the post has a pair of narrowly spaced-apart vertically extending flanges defining a slot for the end edge of the panel such that the panel and one contiguous surface of the post are in a nearly common plane. The panel is thinner than the width of the post and thinner than the structural member.
