  • Patent number: 7958821
Abstract: A printing unit of a printing machine is supported by a pair of spaced side frames that are disposed opposite to each other. The printing unit includes at least one printing machine and at least one ink unit. The printing machine is formed by a plurality of printing cylinders. Each of the spaced side frames include a longitudinal crossbar that runs in the direction of transfer of a print substrate traveling through the printing unit. The two longitudinal crossbars form the boundaries of a foot space of the printing unit at two parallel sides. A plurality of pipelines are disposed in the foot space between the two longitudinal crossbars. These pipelines supply flowable media to the printing unit, which flowable media can be either liquid or gaseous. At least one of the pipelines is connected to a user of one of the supplied flowable media in the printing unit or to at least one source of the flowable media. The printing machine can utilize a plurality of printing units.

  • Patent number: 6956876
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for coupling a multimode laser to a multimode fiber using a multimode tapered structure. The disclosed multimode tapered structure accepts an optical beam having a highly elliptical beam shape and converts the optical beam for acceptance by the circular multimode optical fiber. According to one aspect of the invention, the multimode tapered structure has a tapered form having an elliptical cross section at one end to match the rectangular laser aperture, and a circular cross section at the other end to match the fiber core. The disclosed multimode tapered structure is tapered from a smaller dimension at the input end that matches the dimension of the multimode light source to a larger dimension at the output end that matches the circular core of the multimode fiber. Depending on the selection of the numerical aperture and the length of the multimode tapered structure, coupling efficiencies up to 98 percent may be achieved with the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5872560
Abstract: A security keyboard is disclosed with a contacting circuit board, a plurality of keys and a switching foil, where the contacting circuit board comprises contact elements necessary for the security keyboard and which is substantially completely enveloped in a security film and in operating the plurality of keys the keyboard pressure is transmitted through the security film to the contacts of the contacting circuit board. In accordance with the invention, the plurality of keys are held in the switching foil in such a way that on operating the plurality of keys a tactile feedback is produced. This permits a positive switching of the security keyboard since, because of the tactile feedback, an `automatic` backpressure of the keys results through a force inflection point, after which an operating force necessary for the operation of the keys, increases again as a consequence, in part, of the security film lying between the key and the contacting means of the security keyboard.

  • Patent number: 5796335
Abstract: The invention discloses a security foil which covers a security module, wherein the security foil comprises a shielding from electromagnetic radiation from inside and outside. In a preferred embodiment the security foil comprises a metal lattice with defined lattice distances. The lattice distances can be used to change characteristics of the shielding from electromagnetic radiation, in particular the relevant spectra. The invention is especially applicable in electronic payment transactions. The invention permits effective and low-cost shielding of security modules against electromagnetic radiation from inside and outside. Additional time and labor is saved because existing components can be used.

  • Patent number: 4991829
Abstract: A method and personal banking machine is described by which two items such as cash and statement can be issued simultaneously through one and the same gate. The optimum point in time is determined and adaptively controlled by which the front edge of statement touches the bundle of bank notes during issuing movement of the bank notes. Then both, bank notes and statement, are moved together to their respective end positions. The method and the machine starts the statement transport after a certain monitored delay time (DELTA-STATEMENT). By calculating out of the time difference between the point in time at which the bank notes reach the end position and the statement reaches its end position, a new time delay (DELTA-STATEMENT) is calculated for the next combined cash and statement issue operation. The method provides for the simultaneous issuance of bank notes and a statement through a common exit gate.

  • Patent number: 4744683
Abstract: A type band for a printer comprises a track of marks to be scanned (timing marks) at least one of which is obliquely positioned relative to its adjoining marks. The centers of all marks are equidistantly spaced. When the horizontally moving type band is vertically displaced, the time spacing of the scanning signal of the obliquely positioned timing mark is changed over the scanning signal of its adjacent timing mark. The magnitude of the vertical displacement of the type band is derived from the change in this time spacing. The displacement data thus obtained permit compensating for the vertical displacement of the type band (using, for instance, a stepper motor).
