  • Publication number: 20090240007
Abstract: Polyesters such as polyethylene, polypropylene and polybutylene terephthalate are made from melts of precondensates of polyesters by first conducting vapors comprising precondensate components distributed in the form of an aerosol through a polycondensation reactor in which precondensate components are deposited on the reactor wall and in an outlet chamber of the reactor on a separator. Then the deposits are conducted to the unstirred discharge sump. Upper layers of the discharge sump are continuously recirculated in the stirred reactor area and thus subjected to reconversion and further polycondensation.

  • Patent number: 7550116
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for producing polyesters such as for example polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene terephthalate and polybutylene terephthalate from precondensates. According to said method, vapors comprising precondensate components that are distributed therein in the form of an aerosol are guided through a polycondensation reactor in which precondensate components condense on the reactor wall and on a separator in an exit chamber of the reactor. The condensates are guided to the unstirred discharge sump and the upper layers of the discharge sump are continuously recirculated into the stirred reactor area thereby subjecting them to reconversion and additional polycondensation.

  • Patent number: 7547406
Abstract: A method of making shaped articles from highly condensed polyester melt and especially preforms for the blow molding of food and especially beverage containers. A melt is continuously withdrawn from the polycondensation reactor and is fed to the shape-imparting units, especially a multiplicity of injection-molding machines without solidification between the final reactor and the injection molders and without degassing between the final reactor and the injection molding machines.

  • Publication number: 20090067473
Abstract: The invention relates to a measuring device for measuring the temperature in a reactor container which can be crossflown by bulk material, in particular in a solid phase polycondensation, which takes place in an SSP-reactor. The aim of the invention is to protect the measuring device against mechanical stresses. Said aim is achieved by virtue of the fact that the measuring device, which is used to measure temperature, comprises at least one metal profile, at least one measuring tube and at least one sensor which is arranged therein. The metal profile can be connected to the walls of the reactor container and the measuring tube is connected to the metal profile such that it is partially reinforced on the external wall thereof by means of the metal profile. As a result, the measuring tube is soldered, screwed, riveted or rigidly connected in another manner to the metal profile. The metal profile is then secured to the inner wall of the reactor container.

  • Patent number: 7431058
Abstract: The invention relates to a device which enables nozzles to be changed without changing the pressure conditions in the container or device associated therewith. According to the invention a connector piece support (2) is fixed to a pressurised container (1) wherein a medium (20) is guided into said container through a nozzle (8) by means of a lance (7). Said connector piece is connected to a sealing housing (5) by means of a locking device (3) in order to receive the lance (7). Sealing rings (13a, 13b, 13c) are arranged in the sealing housing (5) thereby ensuring pressure-tightness in relation to the container (1) and the surrounding area when the lance (7) is inserted into the sealing housing (5).
