Strips at the mouth are not configured to close the bag in the first mode. The bag also has a second mode. This allows a second mode opening to the bag's containment region to be created. The perimeter of the second mode opening is defined by the two mutually engageable closure strips.

Abstract: A multi ply plastic film to create a heat-sealed enclosure for food to be heated inside the enclosure save for a region of the heat-seal where a vent-opening can be established to allow gas and/or steam to escape the enclosure during heating of the food. The film has a primary panel to create the enclosure by heat sealing to itself or a separate panel or to a peripheral lip of a container There is also provided a release panel applied to said primary panel to be located intermediate of and to prevent the primary panel being heat-sealed to itself or peripheral lip at the peripheral heat-sealed region for the vent-opening to thereat be established.

Abstract: A bag for containing one or more items to be heated in a microwave oven. The bag has a front panel and a back panel and has a seal across the containment region to split it into two compartments each containing at least one item such as a food ingredient. When the bag is heated, the compartments expand due to gas expansion and the seal is caused to break to allow the items to mix and be heated together.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a front sheet for packaging, the front sheet comprising a laminate of an inner layer and an outer layer relative to the interior of the packaging. The inner layer incorporates a removable strip having longitudinal edges abutting adjacent panels of the inner layer. Removal of the removable strip forms an opening through the inner and outer layers of the front sheet. An overlay sheet overlays and is substantially in contact with the removable strip. An improved product can thereby be produced. The invention also relates to containers and bags formed using a front sheet as described, and methods of manufacturing and filling and sealing such containers and bags.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a laminated sheet of flexible packaging material, which includes a first layer formed out of unconnected sheets having substantially abutting adjacent edges, a second layer laminated to the first layer and formed out of a continuously intact sheet where overlapping the adjacent substantially abutting edges of the sheets of the first layer, wherein the adjacent substantially abutting edges of the sheets of the first layer define a line of weakness of the laminated sheet to encourage folding of the laminated sheet along the line of weakness.

Abstract: An airtight storage bag is defined by at least one plastic film formed into a pouch. The pouch has a containment region with an openable mouth. There are a first resealable zone extending across the openable mouth to allow closure of the month, and a second resealable zone also extending across the mouth and located on the containment region side of the first resealable zone to allow airtight closure of the containment region. A vent is located between the first and second resealable zones to allow displacement of fluid from the containment region via the vent. The second resealable zone when sealed seals the containment region from the exterior of the bag.

Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and a process for producing laminated materials. The process comprises the steps of: (a) supplying material from a first supply roller; (b) supplying materials from a system comprising a plurality of further supply rollers; (c) tracking lateral movement of the material leaving said first supply roller; and (d) adjusting the lateral position of said system in response to said lateral movement, such that the lateral alignment of the plurality of further supply rollers remains constant with respect to the material leaving the first supply roller. The adjustment step (d) may be manual, or it may be automatic e.g. in response to tracking in step (c) by means of an electronic sensor which tracks a control line on the material leaving the first supply roller. By maintaining constant lateral alignment, it is possible to manufacture laminated materials comprising a layer made from strips of material which abut but which do not overlap.

By maintaining constant lateral alignment, it is possible to manufacture laminated materials comprising a layer made from strips of material which abut but which do not overlap.
