  • Patent number: 5152284
Abstract: A disposable inhaler (10; 50; 60) for administering medicaments in finely divided form contained in capsules (22) comprises a body (12) enclosing a nebulization chamber (20), the capsule being inserted into the nebulization chamber during assembly of the component parts of the inhaler. The inhaler does not comprise a device for piercing the capsule. This latter is pierced before its insertion into the inhaler. A cup is provided for preventing escape of the finely divided medicament through the capsule holes (42, 44) until the moment in which the inhaler is used.

  • Patent number: 4995385
Abstract: An inhaler (10) for administering medicaments in finely divided form contained in capsules comprises a nebulization chamber (42) and a device (16) for piercing the capsule. That end surface of the nebulization chamber containing the holes (48, 49, 50) for the discharge of air laden with the finely divided medicament is shaped such that the capsule, when resting on it, does not impede air passage through any of the discharge holes. The nebulization chamber, at least in that part thereof closest to said discharge holes, tapers towards that end surface of the chamber comprising the discharge holes.

  • Patent number: 4787429
Abstract: Device for easily and simply coupling to the free end of a small tube (7) mounted on a transfusion needle an apparatus of the type used for coupling a syringe to a drug holding bottle. The device comprises a hollow shaped body (1) that can be coupled to the small tube (7). An axial passageway (13) in the body (1) is closed by a plug (5). A collar (2) shaped as the mouth of a conventional drug bottle projects from the body (1). The collar (2) extends axially and a continuous annular recess (3) is formed therein. The recess (3) has a profile and arrangment sized and shaped to allow for the teeth projecting from the resilient lugs of the apparatus to which the device is to be coupled to be inserted and locked therein.

  • Patent number: 4785858
Abstract: A body is provided with members for coupling it to one end of a bottle or the like. The body has a seat for housing the free end of a syringe, with a hole for allowing for the syringe needle to pass through. The free end of a syringe may be housed and threaded in the seat. On the side opposite surfaces of the body seat and at the syringe end provided for insertion in the seat, there are formed radially projecting longitudinal teeth and slanted resilient fins which are deflected by the teeth as the syringe is threaded to the body. The teeth abut against the fins, thereby preventing the syringe from being screwed off the body.

  • Patent number: 4786281
Abstract: In order to withdraw pharmaceutical products from sterile vials by means of a syringe, apparatus is used on one end of which a syringe possibly containing a liquid solvent is mounted and at the other end of which a seat is provided for housing the mouth of a vial. The syringe needle can puncture the rubber or similar stopper by which the vial is sealed, while the needle itself remains enclosed and protected by said apparatus. The invention relates to a device which, when the vial has been removed, can itself be housed in said apparatus seat to enable the needle to puncture a rubber stopper provided on the device, which is connected to one end of a cannula having for example mounted on its other end a needle for transfusion purposes. In this manner, the liquid can be discharged from the syringe while the needle remains enclosed and protected by the said apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4576211
Abstract: The invention relates to a device to one end of which a syringe can be connected and to the other end of which the mouth or opening of a bottle containing a drug or medicine can be connected. The device comprises a closed chamber having enclosed therein a needle which is in connection with the syringe. Members are provided by means of which the mouth or opening of the bottle is steadily connected to the device and means enabling the needle to perforate a seal plug and then a small rubber plug mounted on the bottle only when the device is blocked onto the bottle so that in any case it cannot be disconnected therefrom. Such a device can be disconnected from the bottle only after the needle has been caused to reenter the closed chamber, so as to prevent any possible dripping of the liquid outside of the device.

  • Patent number: 4157086
Abstract: Improved apparatus for providing skin cuts to a predetermined measure in order to determine blood bleeding time, comprising a casing having a cutting blade accommodated therein and restrained to the casing through a pin coupling within an elongate groove. The blade is moved by a rotating spring member to cause its cutting end to project from a casing slit to a degree and travel that are exactly predetermined and repeatable.

  • Patent number: 4069819
Abstract: An inhalation device of cylindrical form is disclosed for the administration of medicaments in finely divided form, having a nebulization chamber for a capsule with the medicament and in which an air passageway is formed in such manner as to set the flowing air in vortical motion. The vortical motion is obtained by means of holes suitably directed or by other means such as inclined surfaces, helicoidal parts or the like. The nebulization chamber is such as to cause the capsule, under the action of the flowing air, to make movements of rotation, precession and vibration about and along its longitudinal axis within the nebulization chamber. A series of air inlet holes may be provided in the periphery of the lower portion of the nebulization chamber, the axes of which are offset from the central axis of the nebulization chamber. One or more push button-actuated needles pierce the capsule and release the powdered medicament.
