  • Publication number: 20240110181
Abstract: Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is caused by mutations in the COL7A1 gene encoding type VII collagen. EB comprises a phenotypically diverse group of inherited blistering diseases that affect the skin, and possibly mucous membranes and other organs A number of therapeutic strategies have been explored for managing the treatment of EB, such as (i) surgery, (ii) chemotherapy, (iii) use of collagenase activity inhibitors, (iv) use of antibiotics, (v) use of anti-inflammatory compound, (vi) cell therapies, (viii) protein therapy as well as (ix) gene therapy. Gene therapy of EB aimed to provide therapeutic benefit through manipulation of DNA or RNA. Anti-sense therapy targeting specific exons have been described, such as targeting exons 73 and 80. However, this kind of therapeutic strategy had to be improved as regards its pharmaceutical compliance.

  • Publication number: 20240067548
Abstract: The present invention is a system for treating effluent from robotic equipment used to remove marine biofouling, primarily targeting organisms such as orange cup coral, which collect on hulls of floating units for transporting oil and derivatives thereof, or on production and exploration platforms. The system involves separating the flow into two elemental phases: solid and liquid. In the solid-phase flow, treatment is carried out in steps essentially comprising particle-size reduction, direct oxidation, oxidation residence, separation, drying, temporary hermetic storage, packaging, and automatic transportation for final storage. The liquid phase includes a step of centrifuging, adsorption, inerting, and discharge of treated effluent into the sea in accordance with environmental law. The entire system is automated to minimize manual actions and interventions, and is programmed to run without interruption as a function of the flowrate of raw effluent.

  • Patent number: 11896954
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of microporous carbon materials to perform selective separations of nitrogen in gas mixtures such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, methane and C2, C3 and C4+ hydrocarbons, with high efficiency, shaped of microspheres or cylinders from copolymers of poly (vinylidene chloride-co-methyl acrylate) with density of 1.3 to 1.85 g/cm3 or poly (vinylidene chloride-co-vinyl chloride) with density of 1.3 to 1.85 g/cm3, using two stages. The first stage consists of a surface passivation of the material by chemical attack in a highly alkaline alcohol solution, with the aim of effecting a precarbonization on the surface of the copolymer that during the pyrolysis process is not deformed and gradually develops microporosity. The material of the first stage presents, in the layer, percentages between 55% to 85% carbon, between 5% to 20% oxygen, and between 10% to 40% chlorine.

Abstract: This disclosure includes techniques for controlling smart home devices upon entering a home with a fingerprint sensor in a doorbell device. After capturing a fingerprint of a digit of a guest and sending the fingerprint to a server device, the server device matches the fingerprint of the digit to an entry in a guest fingerprint database for a first user. The server device sends an operational command to a smart home device separate from the doorbell device and located at a same premises as the doorbell device. In response to receiving the operational command from the server device, the smart home device performs an action corresponding to the operational command.

  • Publication number: 20230331437
Abstract: A dispensing lid assembly having a lid portion that seals off the opening of the container but for an aperture and a centrally disposed interface void. The lid portion provides an integrated, external measuring spout in communication with the aperture. A dial portion may be rotatably coupled to the lid portion so that they rotate independent of each other. The dial portion is operatively associated with a diaphragm disposed under the lid portion so that rotation of the dial portion selectively moves the diaphragm between an open configuration and a closed configuration closing off the aperture and fluidly disconnecting the compartment of the container from the external measuring spout.
