  • Patent number: 10509386
Abstract: The present invention is a method for the control of power ramp-rates minimizing energy storage requirements in intermittent power generation plants, such as for example a photovoltaic solar plant, which minimizes the energy storage requirements approximately halving the size of storage systems necessary to comply with a maximum allowable ramp-rate given by a grid code regulation regarding the state of the art, reducing thus investment costs in the plant and/or carrying out a rationalized use of the energy storage system, in such a way that in order to achieve the same maximum fluctuation ramp, a minor use is done of the energy storage system, minimizing the losses and extending its working life, and therefore reducing the plant operational costs.

  • Patent number: 9222459
Abstract: It stands out mainly for consisting of a nested configuration of electrolysis units (5), independently operated, the nominal power values of which are descendant in such a manner that, for any unit of the system, the sum of the nominal power of the smaller electrolysis units (5) is always greater than or equal to the “dead band” (DB) of said units, allowing reduction of the dead band of said hydrogen production system (4) to negligible levels, avoiding loss or discharge of the energy generated in said renewable power stations, preferably one or several wind farms (2) formed by a group of wind turbines (1), connected to the power grid (3) as a consequence of the implementation of a primary control service therein or, in general, of any other active power control service, thereby optimizing the total energy obtained.

  • Patent number: 8930035
Abstract: A process for simultaneously providing capacity sale services (e.g. frequency regulation or voltage regulation), energy sale services (energy transfer from off-peak hours to peak hours), and stabilization services of a renewable plant may be provided. The process includes determining the values of energy quantity to be produced by the plant during a near future time interval. The process may also include introducing the values of energy quantity, in the control unit. Generating an hourly program of energy supply to be provided by the energy accumulator unit to the network may also be performed, depending on the values of energy to be produced, which stabilizes the power supplied by the plant to the network. Furthermore, the frequency and the voltage of the network may be regulated as well as transfers the energy between off-peak hours and peak hours, or from hours with saturation of the network to hours without saturation.

  • Patent number: 8541898
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for controlling a wind power installation connected to an electrical power grid, in case of a fault in said grid. In the electrical machines that form part of the wind power installation, generators and transformers, it is possible to change the impedance of the neutral closure introducing a plurality of active and passive elements. This limits the currents during the grid fault, thereby reducing the peak torque in the mechanical train of the wind turbines and allows guaranteeing compliance with the network connection requirements, as control of the active and reactive currents is maintained at all times.

  • Publication number: 20110019453
Abstract: The invention relates to a DC/AC conversion structure, preferably intended for photovoltaic systems, having a high yield across the entire input voltage range thereof, thereby guaranteeing that direct current is not injected into the alternating current network. In a preferred embodiment, the circuit includes six switching elements (T1 to T6) controlled by a command unit. • Publication number: 20100141424
Abstract: A theft protection device for photovoltaic solar panels is provided. The device includes of at least one cable which is made to pass through the solar panels. The cable can be fibre optic or electrical, and a light beam or an electrical current, respectively, is made to circulate through the cable. At the ends of the cable, an electrical control circuit is connected, capable of detecting a cut in the cable caused by the interruption of the light beam in the fibre or a voltage drop at the ends of the electrical cable. Cutting of the cable for theft of the solar panels is detected by the control circuit which activates an alarm, acoustic and/or visual, which can belong to the device or be remote.

  • Publication number: 20090316458
Abstract: The invention presents a structure for the conversion of direct current electric power into alternating current electric power, characterised in that it is simple, highly efficient and minimises the problem of electromagnetic compatibility. The circuit includes, in its first preferred embodiment, six switching elements governed by a command unit, four switches forming an H-bridge (T1, T2, T3, T4) and two auxiliary switches (T5D, T6D), and two auxiliary diodes (Daux1 and Daux2). The elements of the H-bridge switch at grid frequency, whereas T5D and T6D switch at high frequency by means of pulse width modulation (PWM), or other appropriate modulation techniques. The voltage of these auxiliary switching elements (T5D, T6D) is limited topologically to half the direct current input voltage (Vin), thereby reducing switching losses and resulting in a high performance converter.
