  • Publication number: 20160177871
Abstract: A cylinder liner is provided that can prevent a band seal from being damaged during installation. The cylinder liner includes a pilot portion having a larger outer diameter than an outer diameter of the band seal. The pilot portion contacts an insert and a seal positioned on a recess of the engine block so that the cylinder liner lateral movement during operation of the engine block is prevented. In order to accommodate a larger outer diameter of the pilot portion, the inner diameters of the seal and insert can be correspondingly increased through a machining process. The machining process also creates uniform inner diameters of the seal and insert.

  • Patent number: 9277981
Abstract: The device comprises an injection system, which is made up of a rigid external tubular body (1) that enables it to be inserted into the abdominal cavity of a sow. This body is, in turn, covered by a sterile sleeve (2) that enables it to be used in different animals. A flexible duct (3) runs coaxially and its distal end connects with a bevelled needle (4) that permits insertion in the oviduct (12) at an angle of 45°. The proximal end of the flexible tube connects with a device (6) that includes a sheath (7) closed at the other end by a piston (8) that slides along the inside of the sheath and that enables the precision insertion of low-volume liquids.

  • Publication number: 20160047331
Abstract: A method of remanufacturing an engine block is provided. An insert is removed from a recess in a top deck of the engine block that surrounds a cylinder bore in the engine block. A used cylinder liner is removed from the cylinder bore. The used cylinder liner has a flange on an upper edge thereof having a first thickness. The recess in the top deck of the engine block is cleaned. A replacement cylinder liner is positioned in the cylinder bore. The replacement cylinder liner has a flange on an upper edge thereof that is received in the cleaned recess. The flange of the replacement cylinder liner has a second thickness that corresponds to the sum of the first thickness and the depth of the cleaned recess.

  • Publication number: 20150226639
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for inspecting worn surface of camshaft lobes of a camshaft. The method includes providing a laser scanning device at a predetermined distance from the worn surface of the camshaft lobes, the laser scanning device being configured to scan and gather data. The method includes moving the laser scanning device along a reference axis parallel with an axis of rotation of the camshaft and repeating the scanning for each camshaft lobe of the camshaft. The method includes generating a set of data points for each camshaft lobe. The method further includes determining a maximum depth of the worn surface based on the set of data points. The method also includes selecting the camshaft lobes for a remanufacturing process, if the maximum depth of the worn surface for each measured camshaft lobe is less than or equal to a predefined tolerance limit.

  • Publication number: 20140298631
Abstract: A tool for removing a piston ring from a piston is provided. The tool includes a handle portion, an elongate portion, and a working portion. The elongate portion defines a longitudinal axis. The working portion includes a first section and a second section coupled to the first section at a pivot region. The first section is coupled to the elongate portion and is inclined at a first angle relative to the longitudinal axis. A retaining member protrudes from the first section. The second section includes a leading edge. A thickness of the second section decreases continuously from the pivot region to the leading edge and a width of the second section increases continuously from the pivot region to the leading edge. The working portion includes a ramp member extending from an upper surface of the second section. The ramp member includes an engaging surface to engage a piston ring.
