  • Patent number: 11939142
Abstract: A capsule for extraction of a beverage of the filter-coffee type has a capsule body (2), made of water-impermeable material, which defines a chamber (3), present inside which is a precursor of the beverage, comprising soluble coffee and roast and ground coffee. At least 51 wt % of the precursor is roast and ground coffee having a grain size expressed in x50 comprised between 350 and 800 ?m, and the complement to 100 wt % of the precursor is soluble coffee having a grain size expressed in x50 comprised between 1000 and 5000 ?m. The roast and ground coffee is laid out to form a first layer (GC) in the lower part of the capsule body (3), and the soluble coffee (SC) is laid out to form a second layer (SC) in the upper part of the capsule body, i.e., in a position corresponding to the inlet wall (5) and/or above the first layer (GC).

  • Patent number: 10913595
Abstract: A cartridge (10) containing a dose (12) of at least one substance for preparing a liquid product, e.g., coffee, by means of liquid and/or steam introduced into the cartridge (10). The cartridge comprises a body (14) containing the aforesaid dose (12), with a bottom wall (142), through which the liquid product is able to flow out of the cartridge (10), and a cover (16) that closes the body of the cartridge (10) at the end of the body opposite to the bottom wall (142). The body (14) comprises a crushed-plant-fibre material (e.g., with a base of rice husk), which may also be used for producing the cover. Alternatively, the cover (16) may be made of paper material (e.g., filter paper). The body (14) and the cover (16) are connected together via purely mechanical connection, it thus being possible to avoid gluing or welding.

  • Patent number: 10913596
Abstract: A cartridge (10) containing a dose (12) of at least one substance, for example, ground coffee, for preparing a liquid product using liquid and/or steam introduced into the cartridge (10) comprises a body (14) with a bottom wall (142) and a cover (16) for closing the body (14) of the cartridge (10) in a position opposite to the bottom wall (142). The cover (16) is coupled to the body (14) via a coupling element, such as, for example, the mouth part (144) of the body or a lock ring (148) that undergoes shape variation under the action of said liquid and/or steam, thus causing release of the coupling between the cover (16) and the body (14) of the cartridge (10). The coupling element (144, 148) comprises, for example, compostable material that can undergo post-crystallization under the action of heat, which has not been subjected to post-crystallization in the cartridge (10) prior to use.

  • Publication number: 20170334624
Abstract: A cartridge containing a dose of at least one substance such as ground coffee that can be used in the preparation of a liquid product, for example, using liquid and/or steam introduced into the cartridge, comprises a side wall, a bottom wall, through which said liquid product is able to flow from the cartridge, and a wall for closing the cartridge at the end opposite to said bottom wall. The side wall, the bottom wall, and the closing wall comprise a material compostable after use of the cartridge. Either the bottom wall or the closing wall or both disintegrates/disintegrate during composting more rapidly than said side wall. In addition or as an alternative, either the bottom wall or the closing wall or both of them is/are connected to the side wall by a bond resolvable during composting. In this way, during composting, the spent dose is no longer withheld within the cartridge, thus accelerating disintegration and hence composting of the side wall.

  • Patent number: 9065097
Abstract: A fuel cell electric generator designed for back-up in the absence of network electricity supply. The generator comprises a fuel cell stack, means for supplying the stack with a first and a second reagent flow comprising, in turn, pressure reducing means, and a manifold body to communicate with the stack said first and second reagent flows and at least a flow of coolant fluid via a respective coolant loop. The manifold body comprises inside chambers for the mixing of said reagent flows with corresponding re-circulated product flows and a coolant fluid expansion chamber within which said pressure reducing means of said first and second reagent flows are positioned at least partially drowned by said coolant. Method for the start-up and shut-down of the generator, and a method for detecting the flooding of a fuel cell and a method for detecting the presence of gas leakages in the generator are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080292928
Abstract: A method for purging water or another fluid from one or both the anode and cathode compartments of a fuel cell stack is presented. The stack is hydraulically connected to a source of reagents and to an outlet conduit, which is in its turn connected to a drain or a recirculator. At least one flow of reagents is regulated by a regulator and is sent from the source to the stack to produce electric power to be supplied to a user. The method includes interrupting withdrawal of current from the fuel cell stack and to the user by feeding the latter by an auxiliary source of electric energy such as to satisfy, on its own, electric energy requirements of the user. The method also includes simultaneously continuing to feed the at least one flow of reagents to the stack until the stack is purged to a desired extent.
