  • Publication number: 20120314181
Abstract: A patterned retardation film including a base substrate, a patterned resin layer and a liquid crystal layer is provided. The patterned resin layer having plurality of first areas and a plurality of second areas is disposed on the base substrate. The combination of the first and second areas is a grating-like stripe structure. The patterned resin layer includes an aligning micron structure. The aligning micron structure includes a plurality of first sub micron grooves and a plurality of second sub micron grooves respectively located in the first areas and the second areas. The liquid crystal layer is disposed on the patterned resin layer and aligned with the aligning micron structure. The liquid crystal layer disposed above the first areas provides a first phase retardation. The liquid crystal layer disposed above the second areas provides a second phase retardation.

  • Patent number: 7110073
Abstract: A polarizer used in liquid crystal display has two portions. A first portion of the polarizer is adjacent to a backlight source and has a first protective film, a first linear polarizing film, a first biaxial film and a first quarter-wave film from the backlight source to a multi-domain vertical alignment liquid crystal (MVA-LCD) cell. A second portion of the polarizer is on the other side of the MVA-LCD cell, and has a second quarter-wave film, a second biaxial film, a second linear polarizing film and a second protective film from the MVA-LCD cell.

  • Publication number: 20060013968
Abstract: A substrate is pulled to a stretch ratio, and a liquid crystal material is then spread on a surface of the substrate to form a liquid crystal layer. Next, a protection layer is adhered onto the liquid crystal layer, thus forming an optical compensation film. The manufacturing of the optical compensation film uses substrate extension to replace a conventional alignment layer technique; the manufacturing efficiency and yield are therefore raised, and the manufacturing cost is reduced. Moreover, the arrangement uniformity of liquid crystal molecules is substantially improved, thus effectively enhancing the compensation and optical performance thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050153066
Abstract: A transparent resin having a plurality of transparent particles is spread on an optical sheet. The transparent resin is exposed to ultraviolet light of a first power and then cured by ultraviolet light of a second power, which is greater than the first power. Thus, surface optical layers with different optical properties are easily obtained by only adjusting the power of ultraviolet light, without changing the original content of the surface optical layer or the parameters of its spreading process.
