  • Patent number: 6618965
Abstract: An improved snow plow for use with light and medium duty trucks is disclosed which has an impact-absorbing mechanism which absorbs the shocks of both the tripping of the snow plow blade upon striking an object and the spring-biased return of the snow plow blade to its original position. Impact-absorbing members made of a polymeric material are mounted in pockets contained in the pivot support structure of the snow plow blade support structure, and portions of the snow plow blade frame impact the impact-absorbing members prior to the snow plow blade reaching either a tripped position or a trip return position. The impact-absorbing members are highly resistant to damage even when absorbing large shocks caused by substantial impacts, and are easily replaceable when their lifetime has been expended.

  • Patent number: 6154986
Abstract: An articulated snow plow system for use with a vehicle includes a blade center section having a moldboard section and left and right plowblade sections which are wider than the blade center section. The plowblade sections each include a moldboard section and are mounted to the blade center section at opposite sides thereof and pivotable relative to the center blade section about a substantially vertical pivot axis, to swept forward and swept backward positions. The snowplow assembly includes a support frame, the blade center section being coupled to the support frame through an intermediate pivot assembly which permits a limited amount of float to allow the blade center section, and the plowblade sections pivoted thereto, to follow the contour of the ground.

  • Patent number: 6044579
Abstract: An articulated snow plow system for use with a vehicle includes a blade center section having a moldboard section and left and right extending plowblade sections which are wider than the blade center section. The extending plowblade sections each include a moldboard section and are mounted to the blade center section at opposite sides thereof and pivotable relative to the center blade section about a substantially vertical pivot axis, to swept forward and swept backward positions. The snowplow assembly includes a support frame, the blade center section being coupled to the support frame through an intermediate pivot assembly which permits a limited amount of float to allow the blade center section, and the extending plowblade sections pivoted thereto, to follow the contour of the ground.

  • Patent number: 5987785
Abstract: A snow-plow system having four major features: lighting system, a quick and easy disconnect/connect system, a reactive controlled pressure mechanism for applying a controlled pressure to the bottom edge of the moldboard of the plow, and a simple electric control to activate or de-activate the reactive controlled pressure mechanism. The present invention may be summarized as a snow-plow system that is mounted to a vehicle having a mounting frame by an easy connect and disconnect system connecting to the A-frame of the snow-plow by use of three mounting pins which hold the snow-plow system in place on the mounting frame of the vehicle and thereby rigidly connect the system to the vehicle. A light bar or lighting system also is rigidly mounted to the A-frame of the snow-plow at the mounting pins so that once the position of the lighting system is determined the relative position of the lighting system with respect to the vehicle does not change.

  • Patent number: 5894688
Abstract: A power assisted snowplow stand for allowing an operator of a snowplow the ability to position the snowplow to connect and disconnect the snowplow. The snowplow stand generally including a stand structure coupled to a power assist mechanism. The stand structure coupled to the snowplow. The invention also including a method for attaching a vehicle, including a subframe, to and operating power assisted snowplow stand for allowing an operator of a snowplow the ability to position the snowplow to connect and disconnect the snowplow; a stand structure coupled to the snowplow and a power assist mechanism being linked to a control system for controlling the power assisted snowplow stand. The stand structure including an up position and a down position. The method including positioning the vehicle subframe for engagement with the snowplow. Operating the control system to actuate the power assist mechanism to align the snowplow with the vehicle subframe. Engaging and coupling the vehicle subframe to the snowplow.
