  • Publication number: 20070151988
Abstract: System and method for providing a constant pressure of a gas or a fluid. The method includes measuring one or more output flows from a supply tank and determining whether one or more input flows to the supply tank balance the one or more output flows. The method also includes modifying at least one of the one or more input flows to balance the one or more output flows when the one or more input flows to the supply tank do not balance the one or more output flows, thereby maintaining the pressure within the supply tank.

  • Publication number: 20060040223
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for improved combustion of oxygen and a mixture of a non-gaseous fuel, which includes providing: 1) a source of a mixture of non-gaseous fuel and conveying gas; 2) a source of oxygen; 3) a burner operatively associated with a combustion chamber; 4) a fuel duct in fluid communication with the source of mixed non-gaseous fuel and conveying gas; 5) a tubular oxygen lance fluidly communicating with the source of oxygen; and 6) at least two injection elements in fluid communication with the source of oxygen. The fuel duct includes a portion that extends along an axis towards the burner. The lance is disposed along the axis and has a diameter D. The injection elements are configured to inject oxygen into, and mix therewith, a flow of the mixture upstream of, or at, the burner. At least one of the injection elements receives oxygen from the lance. The injection elements are spaced apart by a distance X, which is greater than the length of diameter D.

  • Publication number: 20050026097
Abstract: An improved process for burning a fuel to produce a flue gas is disclosed. The fuel is burned in a main combustion zone in the presence of a main combustion oxidant to produce combustion products. The combustion products are mixed in a post-combustion zone positioned downstream from the main combustion zone. The post-combustion zone is provided with a recirculation zone positioned proximate to the main combustion zone and an injection zone positioned downstream from the recirculation zone. An post-combustion oxidant is injected into the combustion products in the injection zone. At least one of (a) the residence time of the combustion products in the post-combustion zone, (b) the temperature range of the combustion products contained within the injection zone and (c) the oxygen content of the oxidant is controlled to optimize the level of CO and NOx in the flue gas.
