Abstract: A system and method for recorded renewable energy certificates from power produced by small power generators is provided. An appliance can include a renewable energy source and electronics to monitor and control the charging of batteries in the appliance utilizing power from the renewable energy source. Power from the batteries can be utilized to power or charge external devices. The electronics also records the total power production from the renewable energy source and uploads transaction records to either an external device for transmission to a records server or uploads it directly to the records server itself. The records server compiles the transaction records and generates renewable energy certificates by aggregating the transaction records. Renewable energy certificates can be redeemed in exchange for real or virtual goods and services.

The charging system includes a monitoring program executed by the intelligent consumer device that displays data related to the charge state of a battery pack. An intelligent charger provides solar generated power and data to the intelligent consumer device regarding performance of the solar panel. The power management application may be downloaded to the intelligent consumer device from the internet.

In some embodiments, the enhancement can include a lens area. In some embodiments, the enhancement can include a display area. Some embodiments further include a reflective layer between the protective covering and the photovoltaic material.

The memory devices of the present invention can be designed so that the memory device circulates data either through or past fixed portals. Alternatively, the data can be stored in fixed locations and the portals moved from location to location.

The CPD controls transmissions, carried over a communications medium, between a central information source and customer premise equipment, such as TVs and computers, housed at a remote station. The CPD has (a) a first interface linked to the communications medium; (b) a second interface linked to the customer premise equipment; and (c) an interface controller linking the first interface and the second interface.
