At least one remotely executed application is identified to open the local file remotely. A user interface is rendered by the client device that facilitates selection from among the remotely executed application(s). A user selection of a particular remotely executed application generated through the user interface is received. The particular remotely executed application opens the local file remotely.

A drag-and-drop action of the first indicium relative to the second indicium is detected. Responsive to the drag-and-drop action, the remotely executed application opens a copy of the local file.
