  • Patent number: 7283792
Abstract: An approach provides for limiting power adjustment in a wireless system (e.g., cellular network) to extend, for example, talk time. Parameter values specifying operating conditions of the wireless terminal are collected for power adjustment of a radio frequency (RF) amplifier within the wireless terminal. A power adjustment factor is computed based on the parameter values, wherein the power adjustment factor is used adjust limiting power of the RF amplifier.

Date of Patent: October 16, 2007
    Assignee: Nokia Corporation
    Inventor: Maciej Chmiel
  • Publication number: 20060084398
Abstract: An approach provides for predictive and continuous supply voltage adjustment of a Radio Frequency (RF) power amplifier in a wireless terminal. A voltage value is predictively determined to continuously control a voltage converter of the wireless terminal for maximizing RF power amplifier efficiency. A control signal is output based on the determined voltage value, wherein, in response to the control signal, the voltage converter outputs a power amplifier supply voltage of the wireless terminal. The above arrangement has particular application to a cellular handset for improved battery life.
