    Abstract: Techniques are described for preempting resource allocations to one or more UEs in the event that delay sensitive data is received. A resource allocation of a number of symbols may be granted to a first user equipment (UE) for first associated data to be transmitted. Subsequently, data may be received for a second UE that is more delay sensitive than the first data. The resource allocation to the first UE may be preempted, and resources allocated to the second UE for the second data within a variable length transmission time interval (TTI) of the resource allocation to the first UE. UEs may monitor for preemption during transmissions to other UEs in order to receive new resource grants associated with the preempted resource grant. Whether a UE monitors transmissions for preemption may be determined based on a quality or service (QoS) of the UE.

A first method may include receiving at a user equipment (UE) over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band an indication of a time window associated with a transmission of a synchronization signal, and monitoring the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the time window to receive a synchronization signal from a base station. A second method may include transmitting an indication of a time window associated with a transmission of a synchronization signal; performing a plurality of clear channel assessments (CCAs) on an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the time window; and transmitting the synchronization signal over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band at a transmission time during the time window. The transmission time may be based at least in part on a result of at least one of the CCAs.

    Abstract: UE-aided channel selection within unlicensed frequency bands. A base station may communicate with UEs using LTE/LTE-A carrier waveforms (e.g., configured as a secondary cell) in the unlicensed frequency band. The base station may configure UEs for wide-band interference feedback for channels in the unlicensed frequency band. The measurements of wide-band signal strength may be performed by the UEs on channels for which the base station is not currently transmitting, or during silent periods of a configured secondary cell. The UEs may feedback an average total received power over a measurement bandwidth for one or more frequency channels of the unlicensed frequency band. The base station may receive the wide-band signal strength feedback from the UEs and identify potential frequency channels for channel selection for the secondary cell based on its own measurements of the candidate channels, and the wide-band signal strength feedback from the UEs.

The UE may initiate a time alignment timer for each TAG, and if the timer expires prior to receiving a timing adjustment command, the UE may initiate a timing alignment procedure for a subset of serving cells based on the association between the TAGs and the PUCCH cell groups.

Once the trigger is received, the UE may transmit the CSI and/or GACK to the eNB. In this way HARQ feedback and/or CSI may be reliably communicated while reducing payload. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus send, to a UE, data transmissions associated with a first plurality of downlink subframes. In an aspect, the apparatus increments a counter for each data transmission sent to the UE. In a further aspect, the apparatus transmits, to the UE, a first trigger for a first GACK when a counter is greater than or equal to a threshold.

    Abstract: In narrowband communication, channels may use repetitions in multiple subframes. SPS and DRX for the narrowband communication may not accommodate such repetitions, because repetitions for a channel may fall only partially within a DRX ON duration. An apparatus addresses this problem by determining a DRX ON duration, determining a set of subframes carrying a narrowband PDCCH candidate and determining that the DRX ON duration at least partially overlaps with the set of subframes of the narrowband PDCCH. The apparatus then refrains from decoding the first narrowband PDCCH candidate, decodes the first narrowband PDCCH candidate, or extends the DRX ON duration to include the set of subframes entirely and decoding the first narrowband PDCCH candidate carried in the set of subframes in the extended DRX ON duration. The apparatus may also determine DRX configuration parameters based on parameters of bundled channels, and handle invalid subframes for an SPS grant.

A user equipment (UE) configured with several component carriers (CCs) may select one or more CCs for fast activation. The UE may, in various examples, autonomously select the CCs for fast activation or may receive signaling indicating such CCs. In some cases, the UE may place the selected CCs in a semi-active state by detecting and synchronizing the CCs while refraining from control channel monitoring. In other examples, the UE may identify a set of CCs that may be activated quickly based on channel conditions or that have activation interdependency, such as CCs in a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) group. The UE may then trigger an activation for one of the selected CCs, determine it is capable of fast activation, and begin monitoring, e.g., for control information, after a reduced delay period based on the fast activation.
