  • Publication number: 20120085310
Abstract: An engine valve comprising a chromiferous steel and a protective surface layer (5) which consists of iron chrome oxide. A method for manufacture of an engine valve with a protective layer includes an engine component of a chromiferous steel which is heated (200) at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined time so that a layer (5) of iron chrome oxide is formed on the engine component's surface, and the engine component is then cooled (300) to room temperature.

  • Patent number: 6945200
Abstract: A cooling system for a vehicle includes a first cooling circuit coupled to the vehicle engine for cooling the latter and a pump arranged in the first cooling circuit for pumping a coolant to the engine. The system further includes a second cooling circuit for cooling at least one other component in the vehicle, and an arrangement for coupling the second cooling circuit into the first cooling circuit in order to also supply the second cooling circuit with coolant from the pump. The cooling system further includes a line coupled from the first cooling circuit to the second cooling circuit bypassing the coupling means so that the second cooling circuit is supplied with coolant from the pump via the bypass line even when the coupling means is set to the disconnected position.

  • Patent number: 6115653
Abstract: A diagnostic system (10) particularly though not exclusively for use in an engine management system is provided for generating a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to indicate the operational status of a component or sub-system which is being evaluated by the diagnostic system. The diagnostic system includes a diagnostic function module (DF Module) (20, 20', 20") for each DTC or a group of related DTCs associated with a component or sub-system. The DF module including device (22) for executing an evaluation routine to evaluate the operational status of a component or sub-system to which the DTC of the specific DF module relates, and a diagnostic function scheduler (DF scheduler)(30) for determining which DF module may be allowed to execute an evaluation routine ant a particular time.

  • Patent number: 5752480
Abstract: Device for sealing a combustion chamber of a combustion engine, which combustion chamber is bounded by a cylinder liner, preferably replaceable and is surrounded by a cylinder block, a piston and a cylinder head. A disc-shaped sealing element is pressed in between the cylinder liner and the cylinder head, where either the liner or the cylinder head is provided with an annular protruding portion and the other one of them with a corresponding recess into which the sealing element is pressed. The protruding portion has a greater radial width than the recess.

  • Patent number: 4848594
Abstract: A device for contamination free and micro-organism penetration preventing, repeated access to a packaging container containing a pourable filling goods, for instance a sterile fluid or powder. A discharge portion forms a sluice space and is connectable into communication with a packaging container of a flexible material or a so called squeezable type container. At each end of the sluice chamber there are arranged closeable and openable valves or discharge openings. Between said valves or discharge openings there is said sluice chamber, which is of such a length that turbulence phenomena at the external valve do not propagate to the interior of the sluice.

  • Patent number: 4811855
Abstract: A container closure of the so-called spout type comprises a female element and a male element. The female element is attachable to a flexible container wall section, and the male element is attachable to an opposite wall portion, such that a container, for instance a four sided edge sealed pouch of the giant size type, is closable by arranging the female element and the male element in a sealing engagement for forming a closure. An axially operating arrangement for providing relative axial movement between the male and female elements, for instance of the bayonet type is arranged for providing an axial or relative movement of the female and male elements, such that an axial sealing ring will be compressed. The sealing of such ring may be supplemented by the sealing effect obtained by means of the ribs and grooves of the device. As a further specific feature the seal may include bacteria killing material, for instance of the ZEOLIT-type.

  • Patent number: 4811957
Abstract: A device and a method for forming at least a liquid tight joint between two elements. Either or both elements have sealing portions, which in an area intended for abutment of the elements provide said joint when said elements are brought together in the abutment area. The sealing portion is formed as a seal which by being formed by sequential injection moulding technique is molecularly integral with an area directly adjacent to said seal. The injection moulding technique allows a choice of a relatively softer material for the sealing portion and a high degree of design freedom, including designs of high hygiene standards, especially well suited for aseptic or sterile packaging systems.
