  • Publication number: 20240068716
Abstract: An energy efficient heat pump includes a variable capacity compressor and a controller communicatively coupled to the variable capacity compressor. The controller is configured to receive a call for heating, determine an upper discharge pressure limit of the energy efficient heat pump, determine a lower discharge pressure limit of the energy efficient heat pump, determine a target discharge pressure value, where the target discharge pressure value is less than or equal to the upper discharge pressure limit and is greater than or equal to the lower discharge pressure limit, and modulate operation of the variable capacity compressor such that a detected discharge pressure of the heat pump approaches the target discharge pressure value.

  • Patent number: 11698223
Abstract: A method for controlling an operation of a refrigeration appliance includes controlling a first cooling routine for a first compartment via a flow of a thermal exchange media to a first evaporator. The method further includes controlling a heating routine in response to a setpoint temperature being greater than the temperature of the first compartment. The heating routine includes activating a heating element and a fan in the first compartment over a first interval and deactivating the heating element and the fan over a second interval. The heating routine continues by activating the first interval and the second interval over alternating time periods. In response to the temperature of the first compartment being greater than or equal to a target temperature associated with the setpoint, the method may control the operation of the appliance by returning to the cooling routine.

  • Patent number: 10807459
Abstract: An engine power delivery system provides bifurcated power-flow with transmission bypass. An engine power delivery system includes an engine that has an output element. A transmission has an input shaft coupled with the engine output element, wherein the engine is configured to generate more power than the transmission is capable of handling. A multi-speed gearing arrangement is included in the transmission and is coupled to the input shaft. An output shaft is coupled with the gearing arrangement and a vehicle axle is coupled with the output shaft to be driven thereby. A generator is configured to be intermittently driven by the engine. A motor is configured to receive electric power from the generator and to drive the vehicle axle without the transmission exceeding the maximum power rating.
